That is a lovely sounding lute, Lawrence Dodds and Adrian Dodds are great makers. I have one of their seven course lutes with a yew back.

Informative and fascinating. I have a Baroque Mandolin made by Dodd Lutherie which is absolutely first class in sound and craftmanship, a sheer pleasure to own and play. Both Adrian and Lawrence are equally pleasant people.

I definitely think 6 courses are underrated. Sure, they can be a bit limiting but limitation can breed creativity. I did not know about the 3rd octave course. Most of the 6c lutes I see are strung with only 2 just like their extended range siblings. It's a bit like modern guitar and how a plain G is the standard but you can also have a wound G which can be desirable depending on your playing.
