I never heard anything but I certainly freakin' felt the crap out of it. It took about 2 years to heal, and the first year felt like the pain and the feeling of constant tearing would never leave me for the rest of my life. The most impressive thing about Thor’s 501 was the relative ease - Eddie almost died from his 500, Thor looked like he could have gotten a second rep. (Yes, Eddie did it first and that’s a huge deal - not knocking Eddie here. And I doubt that Thor could actually have gotten a second rep - but it was so clean that it looked like a 2-3RM.) Also, perfect editing: “Sebastian - he’s super strong and super jacked.” *Shows photo of Sebastian looking like a child standing next to Thor*

Around the 4:05 mark, about Hafthor Bjornsson holding the World Record despite his unfavorable leverages: He had an extra ingredient fueling his training: hatred. It seems he aimed specifically for 501kg just to spite Eddie Hall. Watching the effort he put into lifting 501kg, it’s clear he likely had the strength to go for 505kg. But no-501kg was exactly what he needed to take the record from Hall. Hafthor Bjornsson set a World Record out of sheer spite, and honestly, I respect that. Lmao.

Swedish, Norwegian, Danish and even Icelandic are all similar enough for us to understand each other, verbally and definitely in written text. Finnish is a completely separate language family. However, ironically enough, when speaking English even the Finns has a similar accent to the Scandinavian countries. Mike's generic Nordic accent sounded mostly Finnish, but I could give it a pass for a Swede, a Norwegian or an Icelander too. For some reason all we Nordic siblings sound similar speaking English =) But the Finnish accent is a bit harsher (like the way Mike was so rough on those consonants), Swedish and Norwegian accents are softer, longer vowels, more sing-songy cadence.

I would love to see that monster in pads on a football field. If you put him at defensive tackle, teach him some basic techniques, and then tell him to pick up the guard and center and throw them both at the same time right into the QBs chest! Talk about a game wrecker!!

There was a video a few years ago where the Minnesota Vikings invited him to their facility and outfitted him in pads. Sadly he didn't actually play, but it was still an awesome video.

Hi Mike! What is the best structure of a PR chest W/O? (PR = personal record, W/O = work out) Key questions... Q1) How do we WARM UP (W/U) for a chest PR W/O? Q2) How many WORKING SETS are involved in a chest PR W/O? Q3) Does the notion of WORKING SETS even apply when it comes to a chest PR W/O? Q4) Do we have only one WORKING SET that matters here, the PR one? Should we still call it a working set, since we are not here to work actually? Q5) What is a PR actually? 101% of previous max weight (MW)? 105% MW? 110% MW? Details for Q1 Q1) How do we structure the W/U for a chest PR workout? Q1a) Is the method to warm up with low weight, in order to save energy and strength? Q1b) Is the method to warm up with weights as close to the PR as possible for safety and avoiding injury? Q1c) How many reps should be spent during W/U? As few as possible? Should the number of reps for W/U sets decline as the W/U weight is going up? Meaning... Q1a) W/O structure for energy saving (keep most of the strength for the PR set) First W/U set: empty bar x 12 reps Second W/U set: 10% of max weight x 10 reps Third W/U set: 15% MW x 8 reps Fourth W/U set: 25% MW x 6 reps Fifth set: 50% MW x 3 reps Sixth set: 75% MW (working set?) x 2 reps SEVENTH PR SET: 110% MW (???) x 1 rep If you save energy, can you go for a PR of 110% MW? Q1b) W/O structure for safety (avoiding injury) First W/U set: 10% of max weight x 10 reps Second W/U set: 25% of max weight x 8 reps Third W/U set: 50% MW x 6 reps Fourth set: 75% MW x 4 reps Fifth set: 80% MW x 4 reps Sixth set: 90% MW x 2 reps SEVENTH PR SET: 101% - 105% - 110% MW (???) x 1 rep If you play it safe, can you go for a PR of 101% MW? Any insights you might have will be very appreciated!! Thank you!

That 500kg deadlift by Thor is honestly so frustrating, like dude, take the time and effort and pull that in an actual competition, not in a garage with your Dad, like you're clearly strong, that was such a petty ridiculous move, if he'd done it right EVERYONE would've respected that lift, but Eddie remains king.

It was set to happen at WUS but covid lockdown happenned mid prep. Had to do it anyway so they organised the feat of strength series to guve every strongman an opportinuti to break a record during that time
@joemama2264 сағат бұрын
It was done at a WUS event? With MvM judging? with Rogue equipment? Everyone who knows anything about strongman respects the lift, and it's clear you don't since you say eddie is king. Thor outlifts eddie in and out of competition on literally every deadlift variation

Saw a young guy at the gym today, probably a teenager. He was doing deadlifs at like 100 kg. He went at it fast, rep after rep, no bracing, arching his back, no control over the eccentric just letting it fall and craziest of all he didnt seem to have any real muscle on his body. I thought to myself that if i did what he was doing my back would be toast for at least a few months and maybe forever! Crazy how being young kinda makes you immortal in some sense. I hope he learns before he hurts himself.

Eddie is still the the record older for DL haftor did it at home Eddie did it at a comp big difference
@jwatson1812 күн бұрын
No.... Eddie's didn't count because the comp let him use his own bar.

Thor's deadlift is the official world record. It was streamed on ESPN as part of the Rogue record breakers series, because all events were cancelled during covid. The world's strongest man's head ref was the judge. You Eddie Hall fan club guys are an embarrassing bunch. You'd probably try and claim Eddie Hall as the better strongman, with his whole 1 international competition win 😂
@georgeforeman10972 күн бұрын
Thors is considered the world record because a strong man referee was there to supervise it, as were a dozen other influencers and competitors. If you look it up youll see every organization considers thors 501kg the world record, because it is.
@georgeforeman10972 күн бұрын
@jwatson181 both counted. Thors is the world record and eddie is #2. Atleast thats how all the worlds organizations have it

As a 6'2 Swede I towered over everyone in Phuket, like I was the biggest person they had ever seen. I would love to see what 6'9 Hafthor looked like walking through those small, cramped market streets, trying not to crush the locals around him 😂

At least buy me a drink before you insert the RP Hypertrophy app - I wasn't prepared for the girthiness. Scott the Camera guy - and absolute legend - @7:48 nearly made me spit coffee all over my screen. Then follows up with the pec tear - I had the same look of horror on my face that Dr Mike did. And congrats on the 3M subs.
