Yes you are right, but in kidney disorders especially in ARF there increase in production of parathyroid hormone which inturn will lead to increase in PHOSPHATE LEVELS, which we call it as hyperphospataemia. Now these phosphate is going to bind the various calcium ions in the body which will inturn weaken the bones. So in that case to treat hypercalcaemia you will have two options. 1.) You provide phosphate binding agents which will free up the calcium ions which are bound. Or 2.) You provide calcium replacement. This because the role of calcium and parathyroid hormone is inversly related. I hope this is clear now.
