Thank you so much Gavin for this script and all your content. I found that lacing the File.Rename node to the longest helps to resolve the nulls.

Thank you! Really useful! I am going to use Dynamo Sandbox to avoid Revit interaction;)

Good idea, but be aware they are sunsetting Sandbox sometime in near future.

Renaming the subcategories using Boolean true does not work. It only renames files in the direct parent folder. Any suggestions?
@AussieBIMGuru2 жыл бұрын
Hrm it's been a while since I used this script, these days I manage most file renaming/moving/copying using batch scripts or Python for Dynamo. The os library has pretty much everything you need to manage files and can be used in the Python node for Dynamo. There's some more information here that might help: www.guru99.com/python-rename-file.html

Hello Aussie, appreciate all the content on your yt page. I am wondering if there is a similar solution for renaming folders?
@AussieBIMGuru2 жыл бұрын
Yes I would recommend exploring Python and the os library which has a lot of features for renaming, moving and modifying files/folders.

Hi Gavin, have an issue with mine. I've been getting this error, Warning: Directory.Contents expects argument type(s) (string, string, bool), but was called with (System.IO.DirectoryInfo, string, bool). i'm already connecting directory from path but still getting null results.
@AussieBIMGuru3 жыл бұрын
Try connecting the directory path instead of the directory.

Hi, I was trying to remake this script for my university coarse, but the orchid node wont show when searching for it. When going to the installend packages window it shows orchid is installed. Do you have anny sugestions on how to solve this problem? Thanks in advance, Stefan
@AussieBIMGuru Жыл бұрын
I'm quite certain its still in the package, search through the package manually maybe. Otherwise try genius loci, clockwork or rhythm to see if they have their own node for such a task.

Hi Gavin Nyc one....I have a query... Can we replace the names for revit files ..If yes they get detached from central model after gettting renamed..Guide me on this
@AussieBIMGuru4 жыл бұрын
You could but you would also need to build scripts to open detached and save over the file after. This a natural behaviour of Revit so can't be avoided.

Great tip Gavin, this has saved me hours on renaming files. I've tried to create a script based on this tutorial for file extensions as you suggested but no luck when it comes to the File. Rename node. FileSystem.FileExtension and FileSystem.ChangePathExtension nodes show the correct output of changing file extensions from png to jpg but I end up with an empty list. Any solutions?
@AussieBIMGuru4 жыл бұрын
Does the file still get renamed to the new extension in this case? Some nodes sometimes do not output correctly in Dynamo even if they work in Windows, either because the package manager didn't design the node to return the list of elements or the node hasn't been updated for a while.
@ahg33954 жыл бұрын
@@AussieBIMGuru No the extension doesn't get renamed. The script shows the re-naming, but the final node gives an error "the given paths format is not supported". Don't know where I'm going wrong.
@AussieBIMGuru4 жыл бұрын
@@ahg3395 that's OK, can you send me your script by email and the file type(s) you are trying to convert? I'll have a look into it this week hopefully.
