Nightwing is a very underrated superhero and I feel like the writing team behind these movies didn’t quite understand him. Dick is someone who had the potential to turn out just like Bruce did, except Bruce worked really hard to make sure that didn’t happen. Yes, he trained Dick to fight like him and think like him, but he did this with the intention to not make him vengeful and full of nothing but rage like him. And he succeeded because Dick has said many times that he doesn’t want to be Batman! Yes, he wants to save lives, fight crime, and do the right thing, but he also wants a normal life outside all that unlike Bruce who only sees himself as Batman. Sure, he became Batman when he needed to, but never wanted to. Where the movies missed the mark is that Nightwing has the potential to be just as good as Batman if not a little better at times. No, he doesn’t always come out of a fight unscathed, but he’s beaten many villains featured in these movies by himself, and in these movies he always needed help. Maybe that was intentional because I don’t think these movies do anything that would make him lose any fans and Batman gets beaten plenty in these movies as well, but I feel like Nightwing deserves better than what he got here. Here’s hoping he gets treated better in the future. I sooooo want a live action Nightwing movie!
