I have to disagree I think that was a good stoppage. You could see his eyes roll to the back of his head from the ref's angle when he got hit with that final left. Fiziev let off the gas on finishing him because he knew he was out and so did the ref

Agreed. That ref stopped the fight when Moicano was actively defending. He went down bad but he should've been given a few more seconds. We aren't in the sport of "stop the fight as soon as somebody hits the deck"

@@rexoni2512 Most of the time I agree when they stop it that quickly after someone drops but we also have to keep in mind that we're not up close and personal to the fighters in the octagon. He might have looked like he was about to have a seizure in the face, but we can't really tell from the camera's view. It looked to me like he was defending very intelligently. Fiziev woulda finished him either way probably. He stumbled when he tried to get up. The ref could more than likely see in his eyes that he was completely zonked, on the ground, and was about to get hammer f*ckt

doesn't matter, he was still protecting himself. there have been so many fights where a guys' knees go wobbly and the fight goes 20 more minutes. Not that I'm a fan lol, but Magny just won a fight against Mike Mallott where he was wobbled and beat senseless for 10 min, then came back to steal a win with a choke. "Protect yourself at all times" is the direction they give. This was way too early a stoppage. Moicano was immediately wrapped around Fiziev. This isn't a barfight, these guys intend to keep fighting when it gets to the ground. Let em

I agree that it was an awful position and a bad landing but give the guy a few more seconds, he was almost in guard and was trying to grab Fiziev. Almost every time a fighter gets KO'd their legs dont do that. imo it was an "intelligent defense" along with him actually being able to hold him as the ref stepped in, not straight up in the air in desperation. It was not necessarily a bad stoppage cuz it did look bad in real time, but watching the replay it was a little early. The ref did his job correctly but in hindsight it should have gone on a few more seconds to see what position they ended up in.

I always respected Moicano’s game ever since his performance against Kattar. IMO he is on a Barboza type level or maybe like Kattar himself - if you can beat him then you are likely a top five guy, a true contender. Both these guys ran into rotten luck - Moicano was sort of psyched out by Aldo and then just got caught by Zombie and then ran into this buzzsaw up a division and of Fiz with a close fight against the iron chinned JG and then the brutal leg injury. I hope they can both make a run
