Pour out what is on your mind, open up the Bible to the Gospel of John and talk to Him about what He would like to say to you, then read and just listen. If what you're hearing contradicts what the Bible says, it's not God's voice you are hearing. God wants a two-way conversation with you but it takes practice to hear His voice! I always begin with confession of my sins because first John 1:9 says he forgives you, so then once I have confessed them, my sins cannot stand between me and Him. It's good that you're searching for truth!
