I preordered the digital deluxe, heard there was censorship and decided to pick up a physical copy. I thought the whole Hard graffiti being replaced by the word Crime was stupid enough, but the more revealing costumes on the disk just look better in comparison to the patched variants; it's hard to go back.

So, I was right about the game being censored. I'm specifically talking about the blood. Why the change? Anyways, and about the outfits, whether it is censorship or artistic last second change, it still doesn't make sense why anything got changed in the first place. I don't buy it being an artistic change but, in fact, believe that it was just PR speak to damage control whatever changes they made to the game last second. This isn't the first time this has happened to a SHIFT UP game. This happened to DESTINY CHILD and to NIKKE. The publisher of their games would force them to change the designs of their characters. With DESTINY CHILD, they managed to eventually self host/publish the game uncensored, but that was only when the game was in their own hands. So, if I blame anyone for the changes, I would blame SONY. This is why people choose to buy physical to still support the game but without feeding SONY's digital proceedings. It is to send a message. That we love the game but don't support censorship.

I believe them when they say it was an artistic change concerning outfits. When outfits like Ocean Maid, Black Pearl, Monsoon exist. I get why people are upset though, they want their eye candy on full display.

@NanzoGonzo I am an artist myself, so I believe them to a certain extent, but not all of the changes are artistic, IMO. Either way, I only have problems with censorship in general. Imagine you create an artwork and then someone changes it. How is that okay? I would be furious if my work were altered and censored, but it has apparently been normalised in the game industry to censor games, and mostly games from asia are targeted for censorship. There is a clear pattern here, and it's not funny. In the end, I only have a problem with the change to the blood. It doesn't stop me from playing the game because it is a great game, but it is not cool and very unnecessary that they removed the blood sticking on characters. It is an R18 game, so let it be.

Damn, even the disc doesn’t have the level of blood the demo had. What a shame. It would be so damn cool if Shift Up provided an increased blood option along with unaltered outfits in an upcoming patch.

Lets be honest. The same reason we played their mobile game; Godess of Victory: Nikke (a T rated game!!) We expected them to go crazy with Stellar Blade...I mean, they announced "uncensored" in relation to how their mobile game is constantly getting censored lol.

1:18 & 2:39 OMG The blood splatter on EVE's face is so awesome and realistic! This is why I pre-ordered the game months ago. The censorship on outfits is just secondary to me. This game needs to be reverted back to its intended version, UNCENSORED!!

Great comparison. Shame what happened, hope they add the uncensored version as an alternate outfit in a future dlc pack. Assuming Sony would even let them... In any case, I'll wait for PC and the glorious mods that will no doubt come with it.

No, they won't remove censorship. The game is a commercial success and has good reviews, so there's no point in them doing this.

Wow so the demo has the blood covering her completely while disc is actually censored wtf so we need the version before the disc itself since not only blood is lessened but also of course some costumes are censored

There is no such version :P the blood is only for the skin suit btw. The demo was probably an early version before they finished the full boss defeat cutscene.

@@rendermax have you tried the disc version with different visual modes? I remember reading very early on release date some people saying that the blood on disc was like in the Demo in Quality mode and gets reduced on Performance and Balanced. Can you confirm if that's fake?

@@GodSashie I doubt but I can try... If you look at the demo version, the normal outfit doesn't show that much blood compared to the final version, and the most difference is only in the skin suit, and again, that's only for the first boss, cause that blood is part of a cutscene, so the rest of the game is not like that anyways...

@@GodSashie I also tested the different visual modes while playing, and there is no removed textures or anything, it's more like changing from supersampling values, it's more noticeable in performance mode while moving fast, but the game show the same objects and textures, in quality mode the game probably runs in full 4k or more resolution cause its noticeable the fps drop...

@@rendermax dammit, so it's gone gone, that fucking sucks. Well I guess I'll just update to the input delay fix, I only bought physical to get the uncensored gore but if it's no longer there then there's no point in suffering through unpatch delay. Thanks bro.

What's the point of removing blood stain on her body, when they already show her body got splattered everywhere when touched the spinning blades? I even think they should add dismemberment animation when she dies. Sony allowed games like Callisto Protocol deaths shown in full animation but not this?

Can you see a difference between Digital / Physical for Black/Red Pearl, Ocean Maid, Blue/White Monsoon and Moutan Peony?

Digital & disc already changed from early concepts, so there is no difference right now. Fun thing is they didn't change some of the 2D art like with the Ocean Maid one.

I leaned the trick. since I have DVD game.. I can play patched game then I can revert back to original version by uninstalling game and retaining save files. anyway.. it's cool to see the comparison. I like both version BTW. I gotta start collection CANs..
