I agree with him, in a way. But I also understand that Dupree was at an agree that he could have been scared. However, I'm sure if he did go up to Goldfishs face and say "wtf you dickhead" and had a fight with him, that he would have won. Goldbum is a fraud, a gimmick, a fake.

I love Booker T. He's my second favorite wrestler ever. But he is such a company guy now. WWE isn't always right. I'm sure he felt they were wrong when they found the name Robert Huffman on that steroid list back in 07. He soon quit after he was suspended for 60 days. I'm sure he'd have issues with someone putting in their 10 cents about that. Also, he has no issue with Bret trashing Goldberg for being dangerous. He just doesn't have any respect for Dupree. That is all.

Nobody is owning anyone. I have my dislikes for Booker for other reasons. I really don’t agree with Booker saying what he just said about Holly beating Renee up like that. That’s basically trolling. I view Renee as a person who is non-confrontational which is cool. Most marks are non-confrontational. The only differences Renee is a successful man and pushed at this point in his life. I’m pretty sure he would beat whoever unlike the marks who would just cry and call the police a.k.a. keyboard warriors. It’s no secret that Bill Goldberg was a attraction. There are plenty of people who have come into the wrestling business with a good head on their shoulders great bodies and nice attitudes and a lot of them did not draw a dime Goldberg did. The fact that people take a dump on Goldberg is crazy. It really leads me to think that if Owen Hart was still alive, people would shit on Owen because of him prematurely ending stone cold in ring career.

You have to respect Booker T. he's not a nobody in the game. But I think that minimizing Dupree's experience is pretty shitty. Rene did well for himself and has earned his war stories. Booker T has struck me as the type that's not OK with stories coming out from mid to lower level guys who took all the abuse he and his tier of performers dished out in the 2000s. Dupree earned the right to tell his story.

Wrestling is so political. And respect, props to Renee for mentioning the Undertaker being the one responsible for ordering others to destroy renee’s valuables in the locker room. It’s clear to see if you aren’t one of “the boys” then your their enemy. If you don’t suck up and kiss ass then they condemn you to hell. There’s a clear divide between mid-lower card guys and the main event posse who clearly abuse their power snd expect the lower guys to be subordinate. It’s sad but this is essence of wrestling as a culture. These podcasts are great though because as fans we are right in the middle of these debacles.

What I find weird about Booker's response is it has zero to do with what Rene mentioned. He obviously is in Goldberg's defense while acknowledging that he is considered to be a sucky wrestler and maybe he feels that way as well BUT that's his friend. He also says he doesn't want to get involved but he's defending his friend. Sounds like he's involved.

I agree that Goldberg probably shouldn't be in the title picture in his mid 50's. I think the fact that he is in the title picture is more of an indictment on the horrible booking and complete absence of true stars in the modern era. Some of that is due to the modern wrestlers, but more of it is due to the booking, as none of the companies today are really putting guys in a position to become a star on the level of Goldberg. He was booked so strong that he is still relevant 20 years later after only a 3 year run at the top. Nobody is being booked like that anywhere anymore, but there aren't really a lot of guys that could pull that off in the modern era, at least in my semi educated opinion. Wardlow could have been, but AEW has already fucked that up.

Goldberg was such a mark for himself. All of the WCW stars talk about him in their shoot interviews. He ruined Bret Hart's career. That's all you need to know about Goldberg. Did he draw money? Initially. But it was obvious at some point, the crowds were getting tired of him.

Goldberg hurt a lot of wrestlers should have not been brought into the business
@Matt-cr4vv
@Matt-cr4vv 2 жыл бұрын
Wasn’t wrong to bring him into the business but how he was handled was wrong. He was fast tracked and not fully trained on how to work because of how big of crowd reactions he was getting during his dark matches. Because of those reactions they sped up his training, teaching him the bare minimum, and put him on TV basically a year into starting from scratch. The way they booked him didn’t help in that because all he did was squash people quickly and never was given time to truly learn how to work properly because of how popular he was becoming so quickly. And less than a year of being on TV the dude was the champion. The fact he wasn’t properly trained was the company’s fault for shoving him out there because of how popular he was. It didn’t help matters that his poor in ring work wasn’t ever corrected because of how big his character became so quickly. And his mindset was never good because his rapid rise made him overconfident and the veterans who could’ve brought him back to reality largely fucked with him and exploited his paranoia for their amusement. It resulted in the guy never trusting anybody and probably made it to where nobody could even give him advice at a certain point because he just didn’t trust anybody. I don’t totally blame Goldberg for taking what was available to him - I think most people would have done the same in that situation. But in the end he was never set up for success as it relates to being s good in ring worker or to have a good attitude. It doesn’t absolve him entirely because he did hurt people but I do cut him some slack because he didn’t know better and the people who should’ve made sure he did never did that for him.
