I remember when I played Renegade a kid thinking that Mr. K was the main bad guy. After each level he would say that you aren't tough enough. I just assumed that it was motivation to get to him. Even beating the final guy I just assumed that I didn't find the correct path to Mr. K. I was a lot older when I saw something covering this game that told me that Mr. K was me(main player) the whole time.

@@NefariousWes I cheese it a little bit. hehe. The trick to beating the game is to exploit the back kick for the bosses. You try and leave the last thug alive that will still trigger the boss to come out and fight you. Then try and place yourself between the thug and boss and when you face the thug, but hit the opposite direction attack, it will do the back kick. The back kick has a lot more reach than the punches and the kick will do lots of damage. It can be tricky because you don't want to kill the last normie in the level while you're juggling handling the boss. :)

And yeah, I'm pretty sure the SD Kunio sprites didn't become the standard until the next game, Super Dodge Ball. But I did find a hack that changes all of the sprites on the Japanese version, so that it conforms to the art style of the later games in the series. It's pretty cool!

Not sure why the American release didn't change the hairstyles of the characters. Pompadours seem to be the popular hairstyle amongst Japanese delinquents. @NefariousWes8 жыл бұрын
I haven't played nearly all of the games in the Kunio-kun series, but from what I've seen so far is that most of these characters reprise their roles in the later games. It's pretty cool. They also make appearances in River City Ransom, but the names were changed in the US.
@DarthEnderX8 жыл бұрын
I get that, but I finished Tokyo Rumble, like, a day ago(it made me go out and look around for River City content), and in that game, Kunio collects 3 party members that join him in that game. They're the first 3 bosses of this game. And the final boss of that game is the final boss of this game. It feels like a 1-to-1 continuation of Nekketsu Kōha Kunio-kun's story as opposed to Downtown Nekketsu Monogatari's story(even though the gameplay is pure Downtown Nekketsu Monogatari).

Won't Say, Renegade AND Nekketsu Kouha Kunio-kun Are Totally Different, Cause.... The Game That Best Fits Comparing Nekketsu-series (Or Kunio-kun Games), Is Double Dragon. Why? In PC Engine Version (Also Known To US As Turbografx-16), There ACTUALLY IS A Double Dragon Theme Playing Against The Dragon Boys (Dubbed In American Version Of "River City Ransom" As Randy And Andy). And This Wasn't On Any Other Console Ports, Including Sharp X36800. Renegade SEEMS Like One Of The Nekketsu-series Game, But, I Digress. It's Totally Different, Looking At The Story Itself. And There's ANOTHER Renegade Game, Maybe Called, "Target Renegade", For NES. That Game, Obviously Proves, That There's NO ACTUAL Connection Of Renegade With Any Of Nekketsu-series Games. But Sure, Double Dragon Also Has Two Lead Characters, Billy And Jimmy Lee, The "Double Dragon". THEY, Have No Similarity With THE Double Dragon Boys From River City Ransom, However, They WOULD Represent Kunio (Alex In USA) And Riki (Ryan In USA). So, In ALL Conclusion, And Sort Of Theory And Research, And I Quote, "Renegade != Nekketsu Kouha Kunio-kun". Case Closed.

Also a T would appear when on the street bike level . Defeat a enemy on the bike at a certain spot the T would flash drive into it and the bike would take off at a high rate of speed . I assumed the T stood for Turbo . Anyone come across this playing this classic ?????

I was responding to a comment and saw you switched your awesome Venom avatar to a bad-ass Carnage one! I have a Carnage tattoo on the opposite shoulder of my Devilman one. You seem like someone I could kick it with.

Renegade and River City Ransom sucks. If Technōs Japan wanted the Kunio-kun franchise to appeal to us Americans, they should've rewritten Kunio and his friends as foreign exchange students in New York.

I completely butchered version of the original source material imo, gonna keep just with the japanese one

WOW, what a fucking BS ending for the NES... The bike parts look cool, but I cant get past area one.. I bet they didnt get far enough to see the chicks getting beat up hahahaha MAYBE ill try this one again

It wuda been better if u wuda shown the arcade version instead. Cos (no disrespect but) the Nintendo version u've shown was whack as fuck, yo. The arcade reveals more detail to the graphics themselves if you were g'Na compare and put 2 & 2 2g3tHa.

Famicom all day long. Intro music is better alone. Of course America has to ruin things.

The smoothing filter on the video capture made me raise an eyebrow, but the casually sexist and supremely unfunny Midol joke made me turn this off. Have you ever met a woman? You know that women aren’t fiends for Midol, right? Midol is literally just Tylenol.
