It's not a miracle that good games are still populated, because they always are. I play a lot of '05 Battlefront 2. New people come by all the time with the usual sentiment of "people still play this?!?" after seeing a full server. I think gamers need to realize that the loyal fanbases of these old games help keep them alive by filling-up their online servers on a regular basis. If a game is fun/engaging/rewarding, then these communities will stick around and the game will always see some activity. Gamers gotta realize that games don't just wilt and die after existing for more than a handful of years lol.

The thing is, i owned the original Renegade, and never got to play it, it was totally unplayable on my computer at the time (my computers fault, not the games). I was so gutted at the time i was so excited to play it

You should also try Tribes 2 when you catch a lot of players. It's very similar to this, a lot of battlefield chaos, vehicles, strategy, etc.

Have the devs improved maps and gameplay? I played Renegade X when it was released, it was fun to try the different classes and vehicles, but the game got boring fast because every match turned into a hours-long stalemate because both teams just camped the 1-2 chokepoints of the map.

Well, its not a FULL remaster. Campaign is different and a bit wonky BUT, that shouldnt detract from how much of a carefully , faithfully and lovingly done work of art this game is

Old Ren player, still play the old one regularly. Decided to install RenX again. Forgot how much I liked the game. Cannot wait to play with a full server!

Vehicle gameplay is very fun tbh, especially when commander starts to use aoe buffs. But the goddamn infantry combat: combo between TTK difference, weapon function, hit reg and snazzy af hitboxes plus models combined with the speed of movement, no inertia plus sprint addition and that most infantry weapons are projectile based make the infantry combat a fucking slog (which actually makes Hitscan OP due to being able to nab that bunnyhopping lagger). Old Ren had jumps and no inertia but infantry combat was simple and that was it. New RenX brought out complexity but did not make it fun or fair to use, especially for prolonged rounds. I hope Firestorm (if it EVER comes) will have properly thought out inf.combat since it is a big part of the game.

Upcoming Renegade X Firestorm will be pretty close to Silica, they added base building, more class customizing and more Battlefield-like gameplay. Release must be soon.

graphically is at the level of the best bf2 mods. probably if they had used this 3d engine for a ww2 game, perhaps they would have been more successful (there is still a lot of people who are crying for the closing of Heroes and Generals or for how much enlisted is a bad game)

Yes you can, however bots in this game are dumb... Don't expect the level of AI like we had in UT99 were bots were actually a challenge. Just download it and try it out, it is actually fun to play

There are downtimes with the servers. Peak times are usually around lunch time, North American time.

I really hate how strong special characters are. it is incredibly unfun to be winning against infantry, and than suddenly you come across a dude in a lab coat with 3x the armor and 6x the damage output. -_-

Most of the players are European, there is usually 1 or 2 full servers every day at the right times

NOPE, nothing is good about this game, #1 old tech, #2 only 60 odd people in the ENTIRE world plays it, says allot about it. Full of cheaters using aimbots, some been called out like "POI" and other names he likes to frequent, reported to dev's, because this game has no anti cheat system, but the devs love it, so they keep the person on. I have been playing this game for many many years but it has become toxic, you get banned for speaking your mind, then when you catch a cheater and troll the person you get banned. You even get kicked off the server because you do things that better the protection of the base and they deem it as "team hampering", so no wonder only 60 odd people in the entire world play this game. It has loads of potential but the toxicity and the allowing of cheaters, with 100/0 K/D ratio's sometimes reaching 200+ with 0 deaths, you want to tell me someone is not cheating, nah, this game is useless and not worth playing. The "community" is toxic, cheaters everywhere so NO, don't play this stupid game in 2024.
