I mean, this was WW1. Everyone had their good reasons (which, btw, are beyond "X wants more of Y's stuff"; the channel is called "oversimplified" for a reason) for fighting against each other. So while some of the military commanders were incredibly, in some cases even extraordinarily stupid, I wouldn't go so far to say "those are the good guys, those are the bad guys". Of course, that doesn't change the fact that there were clear winners and loosers.

Their enemies surendered to them, they decided what goes into the history books and they didn't have to answer for any of their war crimes or give something to their enemies for the destruction they caused to them all the while having and using the right to demand whatever they want from their enemies. It was a costly victory, but it was by all means a victory nontheless giving them the right to be called "winners".

i still think its bullshit the league of nations didnt put the burden on austria hungary or serbia the people who actually started the war instead of germany
@marvelfannumber15 жыл бұрын
@ Wilma Perkins They DID put the war guilt on Austria Hungary too. To quote the Treaty of Versailles itself: "Treaty of Versailles, article 231: "The Allied and Associated Governments affirm and Germany accepts the responsibility of Germany *and her allies* for causing all the loss and damage to which the Allied and Associated Governments and their nationals have been subjected as a consequence of the war imposed upon them by the aggression of Germany *and her allies* " In the other treaties for the other Central Powers this paragraph would be identical, but "Germany" would be replaced by another member of the Central Powers. The Treaty of San-Germain (which dealt with Austria) says the same, article 177: "The Allied and Associated Governments affirm and Austria accepts the responsibility of Austria *and her Allies* for causing the loss and damage to which the Allied and Associated Governments and their nationals have been subjected as a consequence of the war imposed upon them by the aggression of Austria-Hungary *and her Allies* " The idea that Germany was given sole war guilt is not only untrue, but it is literal Nazi-era propaganda used by the Nazi regime to legitimize their actions. It is horrible that this propaganda is still prevalent to this day. Also how did Serbia start the war? Austria was the one who declared war, and they did so after Serbia had capitulated on every point but one of their ultimatum. Even Kaiser Wilhelm II himself said in regards to the July Crisis: ""every cause for war falls to the ground" "[Serbia has made] a capitulation of the most humiliating kind" "the few reservations [that] Serbia has made with respect to certain points can in my opinion surely be cleared up by negotiation" But Austria completely ignored Germany's reservations and declared war anyway, instead of as Wilhelm said, clearing it up through negotiation.

The reason of the Falkland war (Malvinas for Argentina) was that the operation to took the islands was a success, but the war for the islands was bloody hell, and the other reason that they deserve those islands was because of the process of des conolozation were UK was giving independence to his conolys
@iainhowe45615 жыл бұрын
An interesting argument with one tiny flaw. It's total bollocks. Taking is only one part of getting something - you have to keep it. Of course the war was bloody hell - you were fighting the actual military instead of tiny picket force of Royal Marines. Decolonisation also doesn't mean giving the former colonies to local powers to brutalise and oppress against their will - it means letting the local population decide for themselves. The Falkland Islanders had a referendum and the result was never in question. If Argentina wants the Islands it will either have to take them again (against rather better permanent defences) and then hold them against the inevitable counter-attack or it will have to persuade the Falkland Islanders that their future is brighter under Argentine rule. Arguing which outcome is LESS likely would make an interesting debate.

@@Tattletale-Delta by supplying it means mostly selling guns to UK, truth is, USA joined the war to make sure they got its money back, otherwise, UK would have never payed back . the funniest is that when USA finally shows up on a battlefield mai 28th 1918, they had no gear, and they had to bought it all from the French but i do agree though, its like being involved in a fight and when everyone is exhausted and ready to give up , there is this big guy resolved to join this brawl , but make no misstakes, the war was over after the second battle of the marne, usa or not.
