it is so weird seeing James's old videos and him without his beard. The funny thing about Silent Hill...the iconic fog was to make up for rendering issues they were having. By hiding most of the town, the game didn't stress itself too much.

The Mist is directly related to the Dark Tower series. The creatures come through a rift from the Gunslingers home ‘world’ that was opened by the military.

silent hill had a mist due to technological limitations, it hid the fact that a lot of textures were not on screen because they were too far away to load, so it was not added in due to any outside influence

Ok so, I'm writing this because yes there are things that slient hill and the mist. This is because the team that was developing the game were heavily inspired by Stephen King, not The Mist(film) specifically. First off yes there similar story points and characters between S.H. and T.M. I feel that these aren't exactly things taken straight from the story of T.M. but rather points found in most of King's stories. The clearest example being the presence of radical religous fanatics. An example of this in Kings writing being Carries mother from Carrie. Finally, for those who don't, or don't want to believe this fact, in one of the slient hill games there can be found writing on a wall where the phase redrum is found written in blood. Also I'm pretty sure there is a documentary or behind the scenes where the team behind SH talks about what inspired elements of the story.

One thing I like about the Numbers of the Kill Counts is that when he shows all the little figures for the people who have died, if someone died in a crazy way(like say the one guy from SAW 3D who got his arms and jaws ripped off in the car trap), he'll show what happened to them on the figure.
