Winter West Highland Way | Severe Weather Fail.

West Highland Way during this winter turned out to be more extreme than we had anticipated. It was still however a great hiking and camping experience even with the wild amounts of rain and snow.
The West Highland Way runs for 96 miles from Milngavie to Fort William, travelling through some of the most stunning landscapes in Scotland. It passes alongside lochs and rivers, travels through forest and moorlands, explores countless historical sites, and encompasses mountains of all scales, including Ben Nevis, the highest mountain in the UK.

Good call on getting the train back earlier. Looked brutal walking and being wet all the time is a recipe for disaster. Nice vid and the first time I've seen the route in this sort of weather.

I did it the same week you did it 2 years ago! I remember how long those first two days were, even in perfect dry conditions… I can imagine how the snow and ice would seriously effect the progress. You guys must have been completely burst at the end of those days. Your boots wouldn’t have dried.. right decision to bail!

Pity it didn't quite work out, but looked pretty grim to be honest. On the plus side, promising to hear Beinglas should be open again next year, would be a huge loss for the WHW. Plus that legendary teleporter there, that takes you to Glencoe. 🤭 Interesting tent choice, solid if a tad on the heavy side.

Great wee film Ray, i have only ever done this once many years ago and the weather was a lot more compliant than that. You got much further than i would of as it was certainly getting wild and unpleasent, i think you made the right choice to abort. Have a Great Christmas atb Brian.

Seems ok if a little bit cramped and understand why many people go for the two person version. This is if you use a thick 9cm sleeping mat like I did. As a person of 5' 10" height I am just touching the ends of the inner tent. However easy to setup and seems very stable. Little bit more teting required though. Atb
