Don't be worried about loving him. I'm a 78 year old white woman who had a huge crush on nate king cole when I was a kid. If your not sure who he is, look him up on YT. He had a beautiful voice but, more importantly, a gentle manner about him. Also was the first African american to have his own tv show.

I love Warren Haynes. His voice is custom made for the blues, his guitar playing is absolutely legendary. And he is a good looking, humble, kind man. A Southern Gentleman type like those who have real values and are so decent. They are extremely rare these days... Men who held doors, pulled out chairs and never referred to women in disgusting terms.

Lyrics On the banks of the deep end Where your soul is your best friend Searchin' for a reason To go astray Wild dreams turn to nightmares Silver clouds turn to golden stairs Everything that you used to know Is slippin' away, yeah Here I've got my puzzle-piece Only got it for a short term lease No time for askin' No goin' back to get hurt Take a little from the mixture Try to fit it into the picture Got a place where you're standin' Dig your shoes into the dirt Tryin' hard to get back Runnin' on the stones Put you on my shoulders I can be the only one See the world's still spinnin' 'round Gettin' dizzy when we look There's a reason to be home There's a feelin' when you smile But it feels like it might take over This feelin' deep inside There's a distance down the line Far away from the station We can leave it all behind On a rollin' creation Stay away from the window Oh, and lock the door Can't you learn from the last time And the time before See the world's still spinnin' 'round Gettin' dizzy when we look Got to leave town To see yellow flowers bloom Sun goin' down It's gonna be, gonna be risin' soon On the banks of the deep end Twisted as a riverbend Searchin' for a reason to go astray, yeah Couldn't hire twenty-five men To do what the man couldn't do Just the sound of his walkin' Split the whole damn town in two Into the night full of shadows He still walks when the thunder rolls This river ain't shallow Reminds us that the bell still tolls Bears in the kitchen Tigers on TV The singer's pretendin' That this song's for me See the world's still spinnin' 'round Gettin' dizzy when we look Took a wrong turn down by the waterline Heard they had to drag you off the sand Find a dune and the wind will miss you Hold on to a piece of dry land Got to hold on to a piece of dry land Got to hold on to a piece of dry land On the banks of the deep end Where I lost my best friend Searchin' for a reason to go astray, hey

Mike Gordon on bass guitar. ~~ Born in Sudbury Massachusetts on June 3, 1965, Mike Gordon is best known for playing bass in the rock band known as Phish. He has been active in the entertainment industry since 1982 and has been affiliated with Megaplum and ATO Records. He is also educated in banjo, piano and guitar. Along with playing music, Gordon has also written a book called Mike's Corner and produced approximately three films and one music video. He has nine releases under in his discography and formed Phish with Trey Anastasio, Jon Fishman and Jeff Holdsworth in 1983. He attended the Solomon Schechter Day School of Greater Boston, the Lincoln-Sudbury Regional High School, and the University of Vermont. Gordon acted as a powerhouse in the band, handling everything media-related until the band's success became overbearing on the self-management front. Gordon plays on Paul Languedoc custom guitars, one of which was a "dragon" bass. He has also played on a Modulus Quantum 5 bass. His amplification ranges from an SWR SM-900 to an Eden WT-800. He also plays banjo on tour with Phish and started learning in 1994. He played banjo on Bernie Worrell's 2007 release, Improvisczario. Gordon currently tours under his own name and has been doing so since 2008 with Scott Murawski, Todd Isler, Tom Cleary, and Craig Myers. In addition to playing on all of Phish's albums, he has released several solo albums and collaborations with Leo Kottke. ~ 🎸 🪕🎹

My mind is pretty open -- I just wasn't familiar with Haynes. I tend to be stuck in earlier decades with my guitarists -- Stevie Ray, Jeff Beck, Clapton, Ry Cooder, Bruce Cockburn (with Colin Linden), Bonnie Raitt -- and Bill Frisell, of course. Not all the same genres, but all guitarists I like very much.
@jerrymeadows50597 жыл бұрын
Ever heard of the Allman Brothers? Haynes played with them for about twenty-five years. Sure there was Duane Allman who Clapton called the best guitar player ever, and Dicky Betts and Warren Haynes and Jimmy Herring and Derek Trucks- all had a piece of the Allmans lead guitar and all except Trucks are as old as your list, but in fairness Trucks may be the best of the lot. And check out Joe Bonamassi and Trey Ansastasio. There's a lot of great guitar work going on right now and a lot of players who should be more famous. Take it from a guy who is as old as Clapton and Beck.
@gailwilliams26787 жыл бұрын
I would have had to have missed my 20s and early 30s to not know who the Allman Brothers are (were)! I just didn't know who Haynes and Gov't Mule are. I have the Allman Brothers retrospective, A Decade of Hits," which my son gave me. I was not much of a "Southern Rock" fan during the 60s and 70s -- much more into folk rock.
@jerrymeadows50597 жыл бұрын
Yeah and I was more into Pink Floyd and Led Zeppelin, and I apologize for the snarky comment, but the Southern Rockers kept working on new and remade but highly improvised material through groups like Government Mule and Widespread Panic and especially, to my thinking, Tedeschi Trucks. My point is the guitar work is as good now as ever.

I was turned onto gmule more than a decade ago while in a residential drug rehab in delray florida. Another resident there had a gmule tattoo that I asked about, and he obliged with an effusive explanation. Two hrs later, after sampling their songs, I was hooked. Unfortunately, I'm still "on the banks of the deep end." This song has become a kind of emotional anthem for me, in turns saddening me while also eliciting a bit of hope. Love these guys.
