It's not named after him, Rengoku means purgatory that's the name of the form but his name also happend to be that so yea

It's the 9th form of any flame hashira. Even his father's 9th form is called rengouku. The flame hashira is always a member of their family that is why his little brother is sad because he is too weak to be the nxt flame hashira which will end the family tradition

I've seen a lot of reactors confused about why Tanjiro has such a worried look on his face during the small pause in action. It is because he can tell Rengoku is losing, and that Rengoku himself knows this. The shot of his hand shaking holding his sword is the biggest tell. It can be hard to get at first because the scene kind of makes you think he was injured in some way but no, it is to show that Rengoku cannot beat Azaka.

Unlike the previous fights he knew one of them was losing their life. And transitioned from protector to slayer in an instant. The writers and animators made this scene beautifully.

@@thedarklightskin I understand, yeah, but the nerf part was for the most part the fact that he was on a kind of oath of not killing women and children, heck he was only killing those who fought him and that wasn't even increasing his resolve or anything since he wasn't "Himself" while being Akaza, so he was just pretty much not reaching a more advanced form of demon based on his potential because his inner mind was blocking his demon hunger, in summary Akaza is even fighting with himself on a daily basis without being aware. I imagine Muzan had high expectations for the future of Akaza as a demon but he cannot control the human soul...

@@Gacha-Ritual-Master well sort of because even in the manga it was more or less the fact that yes he didn’t want to eat women mainly because of how he used to be and how he was supposed to get married but his fiancé was killed by being poisoned, and one of the main reasons he hates weak people is because they don’t fight you head on and poison your water supply to try to kill you because they can’t win. But it was like a subconscious thing since he himself didn’t even remember who he used to be or why he did some of the things he did until he died.

I hate it so much when people keep saying its unfair for akaza to regenerating and called him a coward for running and for killing rengoku. First of all, akaza is a DEMON what do you expect hes upper moon 3 for a reason do you expect him to be weak as a lower moon? I love how the movie started in night and ended with a daylight. So when Azaka appears and says "become demon and you could train for hundreds of years" I was like "ohhhh what a deal" But then at the end when the daylight shows up for the first time in the movie, he runs away like a rat.

Honestly my favorite character in Demon Slayer is Akaza, especially after learning his backstory, he’s also the only demon among the upper six who’s in anyway honorable really and the only one who became one unwillingly too, yet a large amount of his personality still remains. He never eats women even though he’d get stronger from eating them (source upper 2) and also he has never turned someone into a demon unwillingly, he had many opportunities to turn rengoku into a demon but never did, always asking never demanding and forcing. Also it’s understandable why he is the way he is when he turned into a demon based off his past.

Rengoku in the beginning of the fight said he will not become a demon. but when he came to the end, he said he will fulfill his duty of not letting anyone die. means he knew his end is near and he is going all out and will not hold back even if his life is in line. he knew this was his last mission so he said he will fulfill his duty. that subtle change of tone but says so much about the state of the fight and rengoku. nice

our normal power scaling doesn't work on kimetsu no yaiba even though i agree that gyomei is the strongest demon slayer for the last 300 years (stated by upper moon 1 i think) it will still be a hard fight because upper moon 3 2 and 1 is on a whole different league that it takes atleast 2 to 3 hashiras to barely beat them but if highteir hashira fought akaza together like gyomei and sanemi akaza is fucked up but on 1 on 1 ithink it's not impossible for gyomei since he's strong as fuck but who knows because so is akaza
