Future 4WD Restoration Projects

It has been a while, welcome back!
After finishing harvest and fall tillage, I think we are ready to get back into the KZbin groove. Gramps and I thought you guys would like to see some of our future projects, and boy do we have plenty of them. Grandpas favorite to drive is the Steiger ST450, it pulls a 14-bottom plow like a dream.

Wow that is quite the collection that you have there. Love those Steiger Tigers. I vote for restoration if the ST 470 with the 3408 Cat. That IH 4100 gets my vote for the second restoration. Enjoy fixing them up.

Really great to see y’all back. What a collection would really be nice to see the 8550 be done. I’ve spent a lot of hours working on them and the 4W-305’s when I worked for a A-C dealership. The FW series on the fords had to be one of the sharpest looking tractors made yet today

A friend of the family was part owner of an Allis dealer in our town, and he had a shed full of their last four wheel drives. All had low hours, all ran, and would have needed nothing more than belts/hoses/external gaskets and a good detailing. He even had one of those two stack models your grandpa showed us. Unfortunately, he passed away, and I’m sure most of those tractors got scrapped. Sad really.

That's an awesome group of tractors . The first four wheel drive tractor was the International 4100 , I think it was in 1968 . It was a wheatland tractor that someone put on a white colored cab . We pulled a 7 - 16 inch plow & a 22 foot anhydrous applicator and other implements I remember tearing the tractor & rebuilt the transmission and four wheel drive unit . I don't know what specs. It had I just drove and maintained it with my boss Sorry for the long comment but seeing it brings back so many memories .

What a fantastic collection of many of the iconic 4WDs of the day, covering most of the makes (although Steiger built them for almost everyone, at least at some time...:)). I love the sound of diesel V8s, so like watching video of these beasts working, with the Cummins 555, 903, Cat 3150, 3208, 3408, IHC DV800, etc. These big beasts with V8s were around longer than the attempts to use them in smaller tractors, which just didn't work out as well, different operating parameters, etc.

Would love to see the 1200 or A4T-1600 done up next. A note on the 1200, it should have came with a 451 instead of the 504, same engine as the 1030 with a turbo.

Each one that came along had me even more confused as to which I'd love to see. So many of my favorites and other cool machines. But the AC 8550 is one of the more unique machines out there, and I'd love to see and hear her twin turbos spooling. We are certainly spoiled for choices here. Of my favorites several are already in great shape for their age so I'd love to see an ugly duckling get some love. Y'all already have some nice Fords, IH, Versatiles and no shortage of Deeres so my second choice goes to the Minnie A4T, Oliver variant, or the White. Love the long silly hoods on the White tractors.

What a variety and all great examples of classic four wheel drives of the 60’s through the 80’s. We have seen at least one example of most of those restored but the two I have seen the least is the 1200 Case and any 1000 series Massey Ferguson. Oddly I would have expected to see a 7520 or 7020 JD in the mix. Whatever is restored it will be fun to watch and see in person at some point in time. Farmer Ken in California

First of all, some of them look to nice to need restoration, they must have alot of hours and need a mechanical refresh. Anyways, good to see u back! My vote is Tiger 470, Allis-Chalmers 8550, Oliver or MM, Steiger Super Wildcat. Sounds like Gramps wants to do the International though. I'll be watching no matter what.

What an impressive collection of 4WD's. I am especially a fan of the Tiger ST470 with the 3408 engine...might be the rarest machine in your collection. Also love the Ford FW-30 and the Deere 8850. Being from the east coast vegetable country, we don't get to see many of these older 4WD's running around aside from the occasional green Steiger. Someday if funds allow I'd like to get my hands on a Panther ST325 with the 3406 engine.
