Renovating our Old Village House in Slovakia | Kúpili sme starý dom na dedine

This is the first ever video about all the updates we have done so far in the house ever since we bought it.
If you guys dont know yet, In the beginning of last spring, we bought a house here in Slovakia because we wanted to make our future homestead.

Renovating the house was a pretty tough job for us given that bought of us have a full time job in the city, and even that we still want to be hands-on in the home renovation.
I hope you guys will like this video, please let me know what you think about the house and the updates that we have done so far.
I know we have not finished a lot of tasks yet but we are pretty happy on what we have achieved.
This year, our main focus is to get started with our garden while slowly renovating some of the parts of the house and also at same time still living in Bratislava Slovakia.
It will be a busy year for us but we are very happy with all the beautiful things that happening to us right now. And it is so much more special because I get to share this with you guys 😎

It's a pretty nice house and the garden as well, I would love to see the greenhouse once you finish it, I was thinking what a shame they probably threw the windows out and then when you said you kept them for the greenhouse I rejoyed :D! I noticed in the stove video you mentioned the heat problem that you're always cold, I think it would be wise to talk to some construction guys because I believe you lose insane amount of heat through the walls, I know these thick old walls are epic in summer because they dont heat up quickly and it should work the same way in the winter, but from my experience it needs insulating, it is your house do whatever you want :) :) I just thought I should mention it. (Also there is a thing I dont know what its called, its like an injection, you drill holes in the walls and you inject it and it will spread through the bricks and create isolation against water, not very useful for heat but it will keep the walls from water damage).

Yes, we like the old vibe of the house and it feels like there is so much history in it so we decide to preserve them as much as we can :)

Just some piece of advice, if you cut down a walnut tree, don't throw it out or burn it! The wood from walnut tree is precious and there are actually some companies who buy up walnut wood to make either furniture or other products. Walnut wood has excellent resistance to humidity and external elements.

Yes, although I don't know what the demand is right now, with the looming crisis. But give it a try! Even if you don't find anyone, you can give it to some carpenter and he can make some nice pieces of furniture from it. It would be a pity to just burn it, but if you find no other use for it, that is also an option, of course.

@@ChasingKimberly If the trunk is big you can cut into boards and make into tables or kitchen cabinets. That would be a better use of the wood than throwing it out or selling it.

Really nice job :) I think in this ,,time of pandemic" work on house or in the garden can by really someway relaxing. Its better than sitting closed in a flat. It really bring joy when you see something is done. I like this typical slovac house even more becouse it has traditional preecomunistic elements. The trees are tresure. So its amazing taht you have many of them. Someone buy plain land without trees, but than he must plant and wait years to have benefit from them.

It looks much better! Good job! I would paint the radiators so they look like brand new. The floors don't look like they are sealed or oiled. If oiled they would be much darker I think.

As a kids we went every summer with or grandmother to such old house and garden near Zlate Moravce and it was magical, nothing like as in the northern part where we live. We planted vegetables like tomatoes - delicious tomatoes :) and peppers, some years we also harvested water melons, sweet corn... And the fruit was also delicous, apricots sweet like honey, cherries, apples and in the autumn time we harvested walnuts and grapes from old red vine plants which brought our great-grandfather from France. The neighbor had mulberry and we picked it like raspberries. It was a good time.

That sounds so magical and exactly what we wanted to achieve. Maybe someday when we will have kids and we will be old like grandparents we will be able to inspire our youngsters to do gardening and produce their own food. Because to be honest, nothing can beat if the food is fresh from the garden :)

Renovation of the gazdovský dom (farmer's house?🤔🤷) is a big deal. You and your husband have my respect, I would not go fo it myself. The renovation is on such large scale that you could also go to TV. And as you keep the old style you may deserve some kind of cultural heritage funding (I think it doesn't exist, but I would give you one for sure).

Nice job! You should certainly get some hens and maybe rabbits there. I would also say goats because I like them, but it would not go well with the garden :-) (But you could make your own cheese, even bryndza! It tastes quite good even from goat milk)

Veľmi pekne video...odviedli ste dobrú prácu, ja bývam osobne na dedine a a vždy je čo robiť. Neviem či to tak skresľuje kamera ale na mňa je tá záhrada dosť veľká (aspoň sa mi zdá). Mi nemáme takú veľkú záhradu a sme v dome 6 a záhrada nás živí po celý rok dobrou domácou zeleninou. Ale som veľmi rád že sa takýmto činnostiam venuješ, lebo sú proste super. Držím ti palce do budúcna😃.

čarokrásny dom :) Som rada ked vidim, že ste nevyhodili stré veci ale dali ste im druhú šancu, aby znovu zažiarili. Mohla by si ešte niekedy urobiť tour the hous?
