Thanks for the info , Please did you ask about traveling through Kutaisi Driveway ? It's listed in the terms and conditions of carr rent that you can't drive outside tbilisi.

Hello guys, I'm also thinking to go to Kutaisi, and I would like to visit different sites in Georgia as well (Tblisi, Batumi, etc...) That's why I think that renting a car it's the best choice. Wow, do you speak Russian? If so, it's really amazing. In our case we rented a car for 3 days only. We didn't have enough time to see more or less Georgia. Price for the same type of car depends from the season.
