Have you checked out rental 819? www.rental819.com/
@bikesonabudgetjapan15 күн бұрын
You will need an International Driving Permit (IDP) and a valid US state license. You must obtain the IDP before arriving in Japan. If you have this, there should be no problem renting from rental 819 as long as you use one of their English capable offices.

I have been trying to find a rental place that has bikes (400cc or under) with attached luggage so I can take a trip. I would prefer Okinawa, but the mainland, where I live, would be good too. Do you know if any of these rental places have any bikes with side and trunk boxes?
@bikesonabudgetjapan10 ай бұрын
They certainly do but you will have to pay extra. Rental 819 has a booking service in English. V-Strom 250 with cases should be easy to get.www.rental819.com/

Well done. Any good rides in the Kawasaki area?
@bikesonabudgetjapan4 ай бұрын
I lived there for a while. Kawasaki isn't really known for its scenic rides. It's more of a place you want to ride away from. Please let me know if you find anywhere good.

Thanks for the helpful vid. What is the price range for long rent ( 2 wks ). For this bike
@bikesonabudgetjapan Жыл бұрын
A v-strom 250 for 2 weeks would be 14100 yen for the first day then 9800 yen for the following days. So for 2 weeks: 14100 + (9800*13) = 141500 (US$954) If you are not using a Japanese license you must purchase insurance. 2500 + (1300 * 13) = 16900 = 19400 (US$130) TOTAL:160900 ($US1084) If you are going to use Japanese expressways, keep in mind that they are quite expensive. Also, if you want a top case or panneirs, they are available at an extra charge (about 2 dollars US a day) Hope that helps.

Do they have any sportsters for rent? Also are helmets included?
@bikesonabudgetjapan11 ай бұрын
I guess you mean Harleys. They aren't so popular at rental places. If you are going to ride in Japan, you might as well use a Japanese bike. Helmets, jackets etc are available and it depends on which company you use if they are included. Most places recommend you bring your own. Hope that helps.

If I don’t have a motorcycle back in the States, but I DO have an international driver’s permit, will I be able rent a motorcycle in Japan? For that matter, would I be able to rent a motor scooter?
@bikesonabudgetjapan Жыл бұрын
If you mean your license is only for cars, you would only be able to ride a 50cc moped in Japan. I haven't seen any places that rent them in Japan. Of course, you can't go very far on a moped so there probably isn't much point to renting one. Hope that helps.

what if you have a motorcycle license back home (Canada) but didn't get the international license before arriving in Japan? @@bikesonabudgetjapan
@bikesonabudgetjapan Жыл бұрын
@ryanbroumand You could try. The rental place will be able to tell you. If you are staying long term, you need to get it translated at JAF and then you should be able to get a Japanese license from a license center. A hassle, but worth it.
@EhCloserLook Жыл бұрын
@@ryanasksaround IDT a place would allow you to rent without an IDP.

Are lane splitting in Japan legal?
@bikesonabudgetjapan Жыл бұрын
Difficult question. The rules are complicated. Basically "no" but everyone does it. I do it a lot in traffic jams.
@zane8125 ай бұрын
From what I've read there are no laws about lane splitting, but you have to do it carefully. If a cop thinks you are being dangerous he can give you a ticket.
@bikesonabudgetjapan5 ай бұрын
Yes. That's a good way of putting it. Basically, as the Japanese term it, it's a "gray zone". If the traffic isn't moving there is no problem as long as you don't cross over any lines. But the police can give you a ticket if they determine your riding to be "dangerous." Here is an in-depth explanation: car.motor-fan.jp/article/10009190
