RENT FREEZE BILL: Tory accuses Patrick Harvie of not understanding his own bill

The Cost of Living (Tenant Protection) (Scotland) Bill was debated at stage one today, with stage two amendments taken on Wednesday and a final vote on Thursday.
Miles Briggs said to Patrick Harvie 'I'm not sure the minister understands his own bill' as the Greens leader intervened the Tory MSPs speech.
A motion to treat the Bill as emergency legislation was passed by 86 votes to 28 on Tuesday afternoon.
The Scottish Tories voiced their opposition to the move, citing a lack of time for MSPs to properly understand the Bill - which was introduced and published on Monday evening.
Meanwhile, Patrick Harvie, the Scottish Government’s tenants’ rights minister, also addressed concerns that the Bill would reduce the supply of rented housing.

Now that the Greens/SNP have shown their hand by getting involved in rent pricing I only see this as a forerunner to new legislation of not just freezing rents temporarily but long term intervention and price capping. I guess this may drive housing associations and private renters to get out of renting, sell their properties of thus reducing amount available to rent which will just cause more problems for those who do not have the option to buy. Patrick Harvey is a short term political opportunist and with this move a danger to the long term health of the rental sector volumes. He is a clown.
