Renzo is a great guy and even better fighter. I trained at his main academy in NYC for two years. This video makes it look like he teaches the classes, but he doesn't. I've never seen him roll with one student in the academy, which is fine, he had like 5 of his legit black belt cousins teaching. He would drop by and see how things were, but you don't get to roll with Renzo, unfortunately.

I do t care what people say all these Gracie’s are class acts in my book. They’ve had a lot to prove and they did. I’m almost 60 and wished I practiced jujitsu when I was younger , but I’m going to start learning and have this for my last push in life.

Renzo came to the dojo I used to train at in Fall River MA with sensei Don Banville for a seminar. There were maybe only 10 other people. It was around the time he was in pride fighting Sakuraba. He was the nicest guy with the craziest stories and always smiling, same as always. And I still remember a couple of the moves he showed us. Wish I still had the photo

Several years ago Charles Gracie got promoted to a Red Belt and it was like a who's who of Gracie's that showed up. Renzo, Rickson, Ralph, Clark, Rigan and Jean Jacques, as well as I think two of the first generation guys (Helio and Carlos' brothers). Maybe the only big name that couldn't make it was Royce. It was kind of surreal. Renzo is exactly like he appears in this video, kind, playful, funny, seemingly no ego.

A true master of grappling. The brown belt did great, and the escape from the armbar/ triangle hold was awesome. Renzo's personality is great, and rolling to give his partners a chance to show their stuff is cool as hell, but you can see when he turns the heat on, especially with passing guard.

Renzo is just feeding the students here. He can end it at any moment, and basically does so with the brown belt. As soon as it was enough, he just ended it. A Master teacher. Letting his blue belts tap him is priceless sensory absorbtion. That lady held that arm kinda long though. I think Renzo had to tap twice. Eeeeasy there.
