@@LeaCrust We are of the same vintage, and vividly remember going to see the Beatles in 65 in Toronto, with four warm up bands playing before they took the stage for their 30 minute concert. The ticket stub which is in my collection said $5.50, and I have to laugh now, because you can't buy a beer at a concert now for that price, nor would the headliner only play for half an hour.

The “robotic” sound is not auto tune. Jeff Lynne and the ELO experimented with electronic sounds on the synthesizer in the late 70’s and the 80’s as evidenced in this recording and other ELO hits. In this video you can see how the REO Brothers tried to replicate this by rigging the microphone to the keyboard. So even before the advent of computers electronic sound was already present in the music scene.

This song brings me back to 1980. I was a freshman in engineering. Midnight Blue - one of the songs that i played fm a cassette player while i stayed awake at nights finishing my drawing plates. This rendition of Midnight Blue reminds me of my late brother who passed away last year. I grw up listening to this song. It is one of his fave song and during his high school days he even hand printed it on his shirt 😢. Reo Brothers nailed this performance once again 👌🙌with Roy as an added member.
