You mentioned "ghosting" when there's quick movement. I have 5 REOLINK GO PT's that I use as trail cams in rural Tennessee. I don't have the problem with ghosting. I actually have a video that is only 3 seconds long with no ghosting (I have others, but this video is the most impressive). It was at the starting of the rut. A buck (10 pointer) had been chasing a doe. She literally ran in front of my camera and stopped (remember all this takes place in 3 seconds) and immediately the buck blows by my camera at full speed and she takes off running. I got all of it clear as a bell. The buck wasn't in frame but 2 seconds and I got him so clear that I could pause the video and count his points. You never mentioned that you can also talk to whatever is in front of the camera. I'm all the time running pigs off. Great product. I'm very happy with my reolink's.

That is awesome. The ghosting only occurs for me at night. Daytime video is as you described. I have two other WiFi Reolinks and the problem does not occur with them at night either. I only have this ghosting effect with the 4G PT Go model.

@@dalewalker2379 I contacted Reolink about it and they said it was normal, due to the low frame rate. They suggested I increase the frame rate, however, the firmware version on my camera has no option to do this function, so I am assuming they have more than one version of the PT Go camera, and that some do have the option to increase the frame rate. It could also be just a sensor problem. To keep that cost down they don't put top quality sensors in security camera and there can be a difference camera to camera.

Wanted to add my feedback... nice review Sir.. I have installed cameras both professionally and personally and from the commercial market I have found Reolink to be the best.. there are "prifessional" cameras that are better but they can cost in excess of $1K.. I have several video cameras around our home and they are all Reolink..

Thanks. I have tested several similar security cameras from different manufacturers since I made this video, and the superiority of the Reolink (for the money) is undeniable. Both in image quality and App function, Reolink is way above those it is competing against. I have been running this camera s well as other reolink cameras 24/7 for two years now, and they are doing great. I test other cameras, but they go back in the box after testing and I give them away. The Reolinks, are what I use for my personal use. That is not to say the others are bad, they are just not as good.

It appears that there is a slight delay when the motion sensor is triggered. Therefore, proper placement is crucial to ensure that the target remains within the frame when the recording begins. I encountered a similar issue with my camera. While it is of a different brand, these are essentially Chinese replicas, and they share nearly identical features. My camera is primarily intended for security purposes, so I aim to capture and save every available frame.

Very useful information and tips, thanks for this great video! I have one question, sorry, I'm not sure if you mentioned it: from how far a moving object can activate the camera? Thanks in advance!
@thejungleexplorer
@thejungleexplorer Жыл бұрын
Motion detection distance depends on a lot of things. How big an object is and how fast it is moving play a big part in if it will be detected or not. The camera can detect birds, but only up to around 10 feet. Cat-sized animals out to around 20 or 30 feet. Larger animals and humans up to 50 or 60 feet. Hope this helps.

Great vid very informative thanks. Just a question about recording you said how it records aslong as there's movement. So if there's 10min of movement it'll record for the full 10min plus the 8 sec post is that correct?
@thejungleexplorer
@thejungleexplorer Жыл бұрын
That is a good question. I have never tried it for that long, but I suppose so. There might some kind of limiter that would stop one clip and start a new one, but in my experience it records as long as there is continuous movement in which there is not a break of movement longer than 8 seconds.

Reolink is one of the few cameras that offer this option. You can do it through the push email function. This one of my favorite functions because it is free and saves on data. What I do is set up a custom Gmail address to receive the emails from the camera and use a separate email app for that account. This way my security camera notifications don't get mixed up with all my other emails and does not clog up my main email account. You can also program the app to send emails with thumbnails to other people that want to see pics from you camera. It is very useful reason and a main reason I use reolink cameras for my personal use.

Hi - I want to use this camera to record trespassers. Is there any way I can shield the night red lights - maybe putting a canopy over them so that they are only visible if you are directly in front of them? I don't want them shining out at night! Also I want to use camo tape to disguise the whiteness - can I put camo tape over the aerial?
@thejungleexplorer

You can turn the IR light off using the App if you do not want to use them. Yes, you can use camo tape to conceal the camera. Just make sure to use a tape that is sunlight resistant, because most camo tapes will fade quickly when exposed to direct sunlight. Can two individuals each setup the same Reolink camera'(s) onto their phone and view at the same time? I noticed in the settings it says Share Camera....how does this function work and will it forward all push notifications and email alerts to another person?
@thejungleexplorer
@thejungleexplorer Жыл бұрын
The answer is yes and no. I can be logged into the camera on my phone and on my PC (Reolink has a Desktop app as well) at the same time. However, both cannot control the camera at the same time for obvious reasons. As far Push email notifications you can add several emails to receive them. I don't know if there is a limit, but I have five emails in mine right now and all receive the email. As far as the share function goes it just created a QR code that another user can scan with the Reolink app to import the camera. They will still need the password to login on though. Hope this helps.

I will try to answer your questions to the best of my ability. 1. Which is better a cellular trail camera or this camera? I am going to say that I would unequivocally choose this camera over a cellular trail camera. Not even a contest. I have tested many cellular trail cameras and while they can be good, they simply cannot compete with this camera. FYI. The camera in this video has been in the field for two solid years and is still going strong. 2. Continuous recording during motion. This camera does do that, however, how effectively it would work with small rodents like mice and rats is questionable. 3. Reliable Reception. This camera is not tied to a single network like some and will work with any network, so, if you have good network coverage from at least one network, you should be okay. You just need to find which network has the best coverage and get an IoT sim card for that network. This card here actually works with all three major US networks (AT&T, T-Mobile, Verizon): amzn.to/3rRxmrV

@@thejungleexplorer ok very good, so how long are the videos In this camera during motion activity? 60s? 2min? Thanks.
@thejungleexplorer
@thejungleexplorer 8 ай бұрын
@cesarestrada1283 The camera records as long as it detects motion. It has a Post Motion record setting that you can set to 8, 15, or 30 seconds after it stops detecting motion. For example; if you set it to 30 seconds of post motion recording and an animal is moving in front of it for 20 seconds, then the total record time will be 20+30= 50 seconds. Hope this makes sense.

As far is which one if better; I cannot answer that question because I have not tested the Go Cellular model. The GO PT model alowws for Panning and Tilting. If that is not necessary for your application, then the regular GO model may be a better choice because it cost less. No sense pay for extra function you do not need. Over enough recording time, you will eventually fill up the card and it will need to be deleted out so it can continue to save videos. Did you know that you can delete the card out by using the app? I clear my cards once a month. I've never had to go to the actual camera and pull the SD card to clear it. Of course, before clearing the card each month, I save to my phone any video I want to save and then I clear the card. This is great because I get so many "junk" videos of squirrels, coons, birds, ect. I camoed my cams and mounted them with the solar panel to a treated 1x6x24 inches long decking board. I mounted straps to each side so I can put it to a tree just like a regular trail camera. Now I can move them as I want as the deer movement changes throughout the season. Thanks for the video.

@dnhman it's there without you knowing it. First you click on the little gear in the top right while your in view live stream. After you click the gear icon, then info will pop up about the camera (that's actually the camera's settings). Next, click on the picture of the camera at the top. Then another screen will pop up. Go down to "storage" and click it. Then it'll pop up a word "format". Click format and then it'll show "confirm". Click confirm and then delete. It'll think for just a bit and then will say "format complete". Then the card will be cleaned. It sounds like it's a lot and complicated, but if you can navigate to "storage ", the rest is obvious questions you answer. Hope this helps

Verizon is a CDMA network. As far as I know, all IoT devices operate only on GSM networks. If Verizon supports GSM SIM cards for data, then they may offer IoT plans that could accommodate this camera.

Yeah, IR lights draw a lot of power, and putting really high-powered IRs on a battery-powered device would significantly increase the battery drain. I am still using this camera in the field and my experience has been that the solar panel is just big enough to keep it running. It would need to be increased to a larger panel if the camera were to have a significant power draw added to it. However, I have not really had many problems with the IRs not being bright enough. 80 feet is a long way for IR to reach. I have seen trail cameras that can do it, but the video still is not that great that far out, even if the IRs are bright enough.

Mine is about two years old and still going strong. But yeah, batteries can go out. If it were me, I would try my hand at opening it up and replacing the battery cells. My motto is, "If someone put it together, I can take it apart.". If you end up breaking it, you have lost nothing, so why not try.

Thank you for commenting Dennis! I am so sorry to hear that. What network are you with? Recently, the AT&T network (which I am on) has been really glitchy. Just yesterday I was sitting in my car at Walmart with 5 bars and could not do anything, the connection was so slow. You might see if there are any problems with the network that your SIM is tied to. I had no problems with my camera when using the SIM provided by Eiotclub.Here is a link to their website: www.eiotclub.com/pages/trail-camera-data-plan?spm=..page_2202421.header_1.1&spm_prev=..page_982649.header_1.1

NOT COMPATIBLE WITH VERIZON… I spent 2 hours on the phone today attempting to add two REOLINK GO PT Plus cameras to my Verizon account. The IMEI numbers on the cameras would not be accepted on line with Verizon and I got the error message to contact customer support. Customer support told me Verizon would not support these cameras on their wireless network and told me to try two different cameras the names for which the Verizon tech provided. If you want to use your Verizon account to manage these cameras, look for another camera!!

The IMEI number is provided by the SIM card. The Reolink camera will work with different SIM cards. You need to find a IoT card that works with Verizon. Eiotclub has a 3 network SIM that works with all with all three US networks (ATT, T-Mobile, Verizon).

I've had 3 of these cameras for less then a month now and 1 of the 3 completely quit working properly. The other 2 are intermittently not connecting and 1 does not acknowledge setting changes over and over, motion sensors seem intermittently effective. And reolink has no phone number to contact. Tryed to warranty the one camera and all I get is automated email responses saying to try this try that bla bla bla. All my sim cards have unlimited data and have strong signal being used in a major American city, sorry reolink its not the sim card cell services fault, verified this buy popping sim card into cell phone and all sims work excellent. Overall I'd say there useful but they are 50/50 on reliability.

Something sounds off. I have three Reolink cameras and have never had a malfunction within any of them in three years of continuous use. Reolink has a standard set of troubleshooting protocols you need to perform in order to determine if the issue is due to hardware failure, software issues, or setup issues. It is frustrating and time consuming, but if you do them, you will discover what they issue is. If it turns out to be a defective product and it is covered by warranty, I have no doubt Reolink with replace the product. They have always tested me fairly.

Ordered from reo link site and no physical receipt was sent in box and email receipt got deleted. Reolink wants order number for warranty and can't find it. @@AlejandroMQuine The Solar power units are not capable of continuous recording. They only take video when movement is detected. To record continuously in HD takes about 3.5 GB of data per hour, so even if a security camera could do such a thing, a 32 GB card would only get you about 9 hours of recording time, before the storage maxed out.
