Reolink WiFi Trackmix Review - A Great Dual Lens Security Camera With Tracking and Smart Detection!

Reolink send me this new dual lens security camera to review. It is a great security camera with tracking and smart detection, including Pet detection. We loved watching our cat and some of the local wildlife wandering around at night.

Great review ,glad I got this and not the more expensive RLC-823A. the constant zoom of the second lens seem more usable than slow zooming even with 1080p only

I got two, and I love them. My one critique is the zoom. It'll zoom in on a person, but not close enough. It's capable of much greater zoom manually, but uses it conservatively on it own. As seen in this video. It's smart enough to detect a person, zoom in on them! Also you need to adjust your display settings. You can crank up the bit rate and FPS, And turn it to constant.

Great review thanks man! I have one on the way and I own 4 other recent Reolink models, I'm happy with them all but I still think they just need to make an elite model with dual 12mp 16X Sony cmos for colored night vision. If they want to be the top camera company they need to stop thinking "just good enough" and atleast on a few products make the best possible.

I think that they should certainly work on improving night vision performance. I do like their products though and have bought several cameras and a NVR as well as the cameras I have been given to review. :-)

I’m using the solar powered TrackMix which has some limitations but as it is on some farmland where I track the deer population, the trade off in resolution is worth it. Thanks

Regarding per detection, I have a few Reolink cameras and they never pick up bugs or bats, even on the default settings, perhaps you can try adjusting the sensitivity. The telephoto tracking is *_really_* jerky on that camera, (much like my 823A), and like all Reolink cameras the night vision is terrible with anything that moves. I have a super-zoom Chinese camera that I bought on a Chinese website a couple of years ago and paid about the same price for it as the Trackmix. The tracking is very smooth, there is almost zero tracking noise on the recorded audio, plus the zoom is optical. The night vision is IR only but the IR emitters are very powerful so the image is much better than the Reolink and they also adjust to the distance of the zoom. It also claims to have a Sony low-light CMOS sensor. I think Reolink could do a lot better with their cameras but chose profit over performance. I will give Reolink credit for one think though, their AI detection works really well once you fine tune it and it's the only reason I keep the few cameras that I already have.

Reolink is very good at detecting people. night shooting is weak, I agree. which PTZ camera do you have that you praise. is there a link?

What range did you have to your NVR/router? We hope to have our system improved soon, subject to things beyond our control, but as they stand - some of our cameras without a cable are intermittent.

Up to what angle can you approach to trigger the motion detection? Let’s say it‘s positioned at the middle of a farm, can it detect new motion coming from the back if the camera is facing the other way? Thanks for the great review!

Great review, one question. I don't understand how a WiFi camera can record to an NVR. Does it record through the WiFi, or do you have to add a cable and have it connected to the NVR?

It is easy to connect a Reolink wiFi camera to Reolink NVR. Just search for: reolink connecting a wifi camera to nvr :-)

I have mine on my back porch. It is on my WIFI system which may not get the best coverage. I do have an ethernet cable from my router plugged into a network switch there. My camera is powered by 110vac on my back porch. Can I also plug the camera's ethernet into my switch on my back porch to ensure a good connection?

With a 360 lens set up they wouldn't need tracking. Still, it seems to work well. I want a camera that projects a ring around someone walking onto the property or maybe a target :D

You do not need any storage other than the Micro SD card unless you want 24 hour footage or to have a back up of any footage taken when the camera has detected something. I have the wide angled footage recording constantly to my reolink NVR. I would not use a subscription plan personally. :-)

I use my POE version with 256GB memory card. I only record humans and with a fair amount of street traffic, it holds over a month. Eventually I may link it to my NAS.

There is no optical zoom, but digital zoom is possible whilst viewing via the client software. :-)

Make sure Auto Tracking is enabled using the app or client software. On the client software, go into Settings/Camera/Alarm Settings and make ure Auto Tracking is toggled on. On the app, click on the settings icon, select Detection Alarm and make sure Auto Tracking is switched on. I hope this helps! :-)

i ordered the trackmix for my chicken coop surveilance, i really liked the pet detection but there a 3 big problems, the image quality is not that good when it zooms into, this camera somehow it needs 128GB for 24h recording no h265+ support? and the lowlight performance... i ordered an other PTZ with 4k 30fps and 20x zoom and IMX 415 Sensor for 200€, and its much better, it manages to only use around 10GB a day with much better image quality

SAVE YOUR MONEY. Despite what they advertise on their website, it only lets you monitor 1 lens. I’ve been back and forth with customer service and they say it can only monitor 1 lens. Even though it shows both lenses being monitored by smartphone, iPad and monitor. CUSTOMER SERVICE SUCKS.

I asked you over on Digiblur's channel how are you trying to view the camera. The two lenses can be viewed at the same time on the client, the phone app and supported Reolink NVRs. I'm using mine with a Hikvision NVR and I can view both camera lenses at the same time. I highly doubt that Reolink customer support is telling you that only one lens can be monitored at a time. If you have an older Reolink NVR perhaps it won't support viewing both lenses at once but you can view them both with the client as well as the phone app. If you can't see both lenses simultaneously through those last two you have something setup wrong.
