yeimy, you can try taking the doors off your closet to give you an open closet and put curtains instead to cover it. best decision ever tbh, my room is small like yours so space is limited and we need to make space without having space you know what i mean. love this. maximalist as well ☺️ also storage bins are amazing 🙌🏽
@stellar__stevie7 ай бұрын
I did the same! My closet door was chunky, ugly and a pain to open (it would make a horrible squeaking sound). Not to mention both my closet and bedroom doors would hit each other and be in the way when I opened them. Then one day I got rid of the nightmare door and replaced it with a tapestry that I pull back when I want and it makes my room feel much bigger and way less cluttered. And I don’t have to worry when shuffling around at night anymore cause I can be quiet about it lol. One of the best decisions I made when I redecorated my room!

I know how frustrating it is to love so much but not having the space. Especially because you have less space the more organized you are 😭 I know you love clothes but one thing I HIGHLY suggest is looking back at the last closet clean out video you did and see what you kept that you haven’t worn and really think about if you wanna keep it or make room for something you’ll genuinely reach for. You got this girly! 💙💐

Finally a room makeover of a person with many interests that actually has lots of stuff that they like. What I mean is that usually it's just going through some clothes and makeup and throwing literal trash. As a maximalist I'm like "where's ur bookshelf, your CD rack, your shelf that's literally used for just trinkets and decor?". Sorting through that kinda stuff is so much harder

You made a lot of progress! If you’re ever feeling overwhelmed by your clothing, a lot of people suggest putting a system in place to see if you’ve worn that clothing item that year at all. Like turning a hanger around to signal you wore it or taking photos of your outfits every day etc. If you haven’t touched it then donate it.

no girl i GET it, espcially cuz i have to share a room with my sis, but more than half of the room has my things and i have two cats so their beds and tree are other things take up a lot of space. I did however had to start drawing a line with myself, it was getting overwhelming and i couldn't concentrate on my assignments like i couldnt stay in that room it got really bad. ik its difficult to get rid of clothes but it needs to happen. i would suggest doing another rundown of the clothes and be 100% sure if you need them, anytime i do a closet cleanout theres another handful of clothes i thought i would keep but ended up giving away, even if its two items its still progress. i also understand feeling overwhelmed with your parents, especially with immigrant parents its difficult for them to know that we are trying to make it better and their feedback is more damaging than good, but dont be too hard on yourself, youre making progess and this does not need to happen in a day! it doesnt need to happen in a week or in a month, it just needs to get done. still currently and constantly cleaning up me room, it'll never be perfect but at least its not suffocating. and like u said, with school and work there little time to clean in between but when you do get the chance, i would suggest taking small breaks in between, idk for me i set a timer for 45 mins to organize one section as much as i could and then break for 15 and start the cycle. maybe even try 50 mins with 5 min break or whatver cycle feels good to you, im ranting but point is theres no timelimit, youre not the only one whos been through this so im sure there better advice. take baby steps, ik you got this !!!

I was trying to be a maximalist but I felt like I just became a hoarder lowkeyhshsjs. I had a lot of stuff on my shelves, and so many posters and inclusions (and other stuff) on my walls. It just became junky, and unwelcoming especially when I was stressed out. So I managed to downsize a lot, and I feel alot better w my mental health and the space I created. I’m still in the process of redecorating but it’s lil hard. I don’t want to go overboard (which was the initial problem) but I don’t want it to look so awkward and bare😭
@ChristinFord8 ай бұрын
Yes!! Alot of people don't realize this lol but maximalism ≠ hoarding! When you start to have so much you can't organize or make sense of, it's time to let stuff go.. I'm a maximalist for sure with the things I enjoy, but my space is still comfortable and functional. I have room to have people over and what not, but then still say they enjoy all my trinkets and my house feels like a home to them. It took me a long time to be able to easily say "I don't get enjoyment out of them anymore" or "I like this but it hasn't served it purpose in X amount of time" and letting things go.

a tip about the sliding closet doors bc i had some and it was annoying having to slide them back and forth, i removed them and added a curtain to still be able to hid the closest from being seen and it was the best thing ever bc u get a full view of the whole closet and more room to add dressers or storage bins! Hopefully that made sense lol

This is the most relatable video of cleaning and reorganizing a bedroom! I feel you with a small room and a lot of things. At some point I wanted to have a minimalist room but I don’t know why I feel more comfortable with a room that has a lot of things. When it is time to clean up my room it takes a lot of time and effort for it to then start becoming messy again. It also doesn’t help that I share the room with my sister who also has a lot of stuff. I really need to start taking the time everyday to pickup even if I’m busy or lazy. 😅

There is absolutely no judgement here but as someone who has lived on their own for 23 years and moves every year a year and a half to the circumstance. Maximize your space with things are multipurpose piece and things that fit in your space. In my apartment everything has to be on my level because of my disability. I've been doing baskets and bins for over 30 years due to my balance issues. No they are not aesthetically pleasing and they're from the dollar store but they work. You need a space where you can make it your own, feel less stressed, have everything you need and want and yet can make it functional for you utilize everything. Most of my furniture is made by my cousins and it's multi-purpose so for example in my living room is a coffee table that lifts up for my jigsaw puzzles. I have 12 little crates that were made by my cousins 2 decades ago every time I move they get used for different purposes for right now they're being used along with my blanket box as my TV and my gaming unit for my mini Wii, my DVD player etc one box contains, photo albums ,one box contains music. Ect I also have a book chair that my cousin made for me over a decade ago. All three sides have three shelves and inside does have a cat hole so they can sleep in. I have two trolley cards that I've had for at least the last 7 years they get used for different purposes when I move. Right now one is used for the cat stuff in the bathroom. It holds their food, medicines (flea), brush ect and one is currently being used as my headboard/nightstand. Keep in mind I also have 17 tote boxes for my entire apartment and I've had the same number for 23 years. And still everyone tells me oh you have a lot of stuff not really seeing as it all fits in every house I've lived in. And you (ie my family ect) have way more stuff than I have and I've lived on my own longer than you. So keep that in mind to when you do move if you want to keep all that stuff will you have the space for it. Also keep in mind is that I do have everything I need and want in my space and by no means minimalist. But it also can't be a safety hazard. My apartment is less then 400 square feet. I hope this helps as you continue to redo your room. Good luck! 🍀
