But Elon CAN & likely will point out (& market) areas where cuts and reforms should be made. Since he isn't a part of the government, he can't be fired and he can't be silenced. Once the new administration takes over and can start giving him access I expect good and great things out of Elon Musk.

​@CTheMuse a mandate used to be winning the popular vote by close to 10% + or winning the electoral college by close to 400 electoral college votes or more. Winning swing states by a couple of thousand votes and the popular vote by less than 3% is nowhere near a mandate. The closest thing we had to mandates was back in the 70s and 80s when candidates would sweep 400+ routinely and elections were called within 2 hours of counting. The 2008 election with Obama was the closest we had to a mandate in this century since democrats also pick up nearly 60 senators and a huge majority in the house (how you think Obama Care was passed?). Most people consider that to be a mandate but I actually think it was a partial mandate, not a full mandate (though pretty close still). Objectively speaking we have not had a mandate election by either party in many decades. Mandate is a word that gets tossed around d every 4 years by both parties and inevitably the winning party ends up overstating their mandate and in the midterms lose the House or the Senate, or both! It's what happens when you view everything through the lens of politics and being extremely myopic and then getting slapped in the midterms.

That's true. It's media hype likely designed to may any inevitable setbacks appear as the "end" of the mandate. Trump has bare majorities to both houses. The Democrats will likely not cooperate with President Trump. Trump will have to using all of his bargaining skills to keep his slim majority together. BTW: when RR won in 1980, he did take the Senate but he didn't take the house. Yet the Democratic majority House gave him enough votes to emplace his tax cuts and his enhancement of the military which ended with the US being without question the most power military power in the world and, in fact more powerful that the Warsaw Pact

@@CTheMuse Only having a slim margin in Republican seats in the House and not every Senate Republican is going to vote along with Trump all the time even with threats from Musk. Let's see Trump during his first term had 241 Republican seats in the House and Republican control of the Senate. They still didn't get all of Trump agenda across with a lot of objection from House with a 241 seats. With Slim margins in the House and his popular vote winning by less than 2% defeating a horrible Pick from Democrats who ran a presidential campaign in a few months. You would think his popular vote victory would be in double digits but it wasn't. So you can parade saying he won every swing state but in reality it shows that a fraction of the American people are not totally buying this MAGA agenda.
