For painting acrylic on fabric you can get fabric medium that you just mix into your acrylic instead of water, I have some and it works amazingly, stays solid and bright even after going through the wash multiple times

There are some waterproof acrylic paints if you do plan to use them for doll clothes that could get wet, like bathing suits and such. The only problem I can think of is that they most likely are super expensive and out of the budget of casual customizers.
