Yes I was hoping she would do two puffs and be done with it and I'm glad she did. Our hair can be challenging and it takes time and patience to learn how to style afro hair.

While I do believe the person who designed this head should get another job because this was horrible, I do appreciate that you tried. The transformation was nothing short of phenomenal. As a black woman, I thank you for adding a little diversity to your videos. I hope to see more darker skin toned dolls on your channel. Ones that have afros and African features. I would love to see you do a black fairy doll, like the ones i seen on ig. They're AI, but I think you could recreate one with ease. ❤

Her eyes are still creepy to me. But it’s not your fault Marina. It’s just the sculpt. As someone else said, she needs some edges to finish her hair.

I agree, it's the eyes. After she removed the makeup, and I saw the sculpt, I was hoping she would sand down that area smooth so she could put the eyes in a better position. The head still looks loads better with just the recoloring.
@PoppenAtelier
@PoppenAtelier 3 ай бұрын
you cannot really sand it because it's like a layer of soft touch silicone applied on top of a plastic base, so if you start changing anything, you will just make a hole in her skin and see what is underneath...

When I went to hairdressing school in 1989, we had mannequins with this exact face mold to work on. They don't have realistic features and I am totally surprised with her transformation. I really thought you would pull out your clay and fix them eyes but you made them without mods to look so good. A true artist , amazing

You're right, it's almost as if they just used the white doll mold, and poured in more pigment when they did the skin paint? Guess that's just them cutting costs as I guess they didn't want to pay to make a different mold.

it doesn't look like a white doll sculpt either, the eyes look a little asian but mostly it looks like a alien sculpt, whoever designed this sculpt should just work in a different job, maybe as a bin man or something becuase he's no artist.

I would say for her hair if you wet it and put conditioner or mousse in it and put hard curlers in her hair and let it dry, it would have been more curly. I also think you needed more bronzer on her forehead because her forehead looks more more prominent. Other than that great job

I say for what you had to work w/ you really did a nice job w/ her hair. Black hair is a skill to be able to handle. So the puffs were an easy go to style for her. Also her features arent typical for black women, but again for what you had to work w/ its pretty nice. The fact that you did it to keep inclusive issues appreciated. It just will take practice is all. 😁 🙌🏾👍🏾👏🏾

With such an odd mold, You really did an awesome job of making her face pretty. The eyebrows could stand to be darker. Using a spray bottle of water mixed with some S-Curl spray would've helped the dryness of the hair and possibly produce some ringlets. The hairline could use some baby hairs. I think a little research on how we style our hair would've helped.

The mold they used for this styling head is really bizarre. The forward-slanted eyes kinda weirded me out. I think they used the mold for the white doll heads and simply added brown pigment to change the skin tone from white to black. Besides, styling African American textured hair on a white doll head would be really weird and possibly offensive to black people. This doll looked kinda like Rodger the alien from American Dad

Lol i didn’t realize u hadnt done a “African” black doll before. Im African American and what ever company made her isnt inclusive lol. Her lips, eyes and nose dont match that of a black woman. The doll doesnt do black women justice, but you did the best with the little effort the creators put in! I love this inclusivity, and the fact you stepped out of your comfort zone. But just in case you’re saying to yourself “phew, im never doing black dolls again” just know, this doll doesnt do us justice at all😂

Your comment made me reflect: I wish I knew these hairdresser's practise heads were a thing when I had my children. Would have been far better than the standard Barbie head my older one was given - nobody has hair like that 😕 Wouldn't just have been good for the kids to practise on - I could have learnt more about how to style my older kid's hair better (as opposed to doing my own with no clear view of...the outcome 😂). My adult child got the wild red Scots curls from me. Lots of knotting and frizz. I suppose they're actually quite expensive, though?

@@dontbefatuousjeffrey2494 Well, nowadays, you can find them fairly cheaply online and at beauty supply stores. But I’ve never purchased one because the faces freak me out! I really love you though this one needed a bit more. I would use more light/shadows to resculpt the face that is truly terrible or actually resculpt it with clay or termoplastic because it looks absolutely unnatural. As for hair, i guess pigtails are ok but the doll for sure needs some edges. This hairline is so bad. So please please maybe go back to it in some time. Hair also might have needed some curly routine. Anything really. Anyway. ❤❤❤

You did great justice to her. I wish you could have used some putty and fixed her eyes a bit. But for the way she was sculpted with the odd undercut to her eyes, you made her stunning! The blue eyes would have been pretty, but the Brown were very lovely! I worked with a woman back in the late 90's, her eyes were actually yellow Amber colored. Like cats eyes. They were natural. I asked. And her skin was so dark it was just one shade off from black. Her father was from Africa, her mother was from Australia (Aboriginal). She had natural born Dark dark red hair and Amber eyes. She was tall, almost 6'2", and slender. She was stunning. She should had been a model but she was terribly shy and incredibly brilliant. She was going to college to be a scientist...

I love the work you put into the repaint. It is 100% better than when you started. I personally see the mould as more afro-asian or afro-euroasian. Her mould lacks some of the typical African features. It was probably meant to be an African woman, but the company that made it was lazy (money hungry) and just used the asian or caucasian mould with darker resin. I personally think it is her mouth mould that is causing the Uncanny Valley effect. The almond eyes turned out great when you fixed the paint job. The only thing that could have made them better is bottom lashes. But the mouth still feels wrong. It's too wide for her chin and jaw or something. I love what you did with her hair. The hairstyle you did is super cute, but adding babie hairs would have helped the hair style.

Wow! When I saw what you had to work with I was stunned. That was just a Caucasian head model, with alien eyes, African hair and simply painted a deep brown so they could call it ‘black’. The only things about it that could be considered such, are the color and the hair, which is real human hair. Not surprising since it is simply a training head for hairdressers! I started to call the eyes Asian, but they were much too weird and not sculpted right for that determination. Having given my reasons for my revulsion of this mold and disdain at those who created and approved this mess, I have to say you did a fabulous job with her, not that I had any doubts of that. Her eyes look so much better, but they are still alien which is no fault of yours at all! The color is beautiful though I agree a little more bronzer on the forehead and highlights carried to the neck. Her hair is cute and is likely a wise choice since you confess you know nothing about African hair. Nor do I, being white myself so I commend you for your bravery in tackling it. You did a splendid job with this lady! She’s beautiful!

You made her 100% better but something is weird about her nose bridge. Her eyes are weird with that slope but I think you corrected well for that. Maybe I don’t like the excess frontal bossing.

I know this sounds weird but with the sculpt, I would've painted it blue and done it like the Navi from Avatar. Given the black hair braids. It looks like one of the Avatar Navi. Put the glow n the dark dots on the skin. Just my idea.

Wow. So many times when I watch real makeup on African-Americans, it looks to me like they’re just trying to make them look white. They add so many light colors and then they have to color the neck too because the woman doesn’t match her natural color. You did a very good job here of just making the face appear as if it had highlights, and coloring the non-highlighted part the actual color of the skin tone. I don’t know about Europe, but here in the United States there is really still a lot of prejudice against people with darker skin. It’s nice to see somebody who doesn’t have that in their culture.

Okay, I'm sorry, but this has to be the most unintentionally terrifying mold I've ever seen used on this channel. You still did your best considering what you had to work with though! I would be very interesting in seeing you work with a good black person mold though!

She has very Asian looking eyes for a black doll… I’m thinking she was made in China for that reason. And the way they sculpted her eyes! I’m going to be seeing the before image in my nightmares 😬 And that hair… I would have ripped it out and gotten new hair, it just looked so old and nasty. Considering what you had to start with, I’m amazed you got her to look this good! Now she has a normal skin tone, nicer hair and her eyes aren’t near as creepy. Great job!

Have you considered doing a full size character makeover, as in, using a full sized mannequin. I'd love to see whst you mom and you could create in full size. X

Everyone in the comments saying adding some edges would have made this doll perfect... Not every black hairstyle has to have that especially not basic afro puffs The mannequin face itself is just bad in general because they take the standard doll head which is molded with white features and just make it darker and give it afro hair it really doesn't have black features. Also dollightful would have done an amazing job on the hair, she always does
