This is why i have the good old reliable bernina record 830. All mechanical, no stinking circuit boards to fail. You just press tbe pedal, and the needle moves. I have repaired many of the bernina activa and artista machines and to be quite frank they are junk. Everyone i came across had a bad board. Also probably more than just thzt one resistor thats blown, usually there is a chain reaction, and several componennts, like transistors and diodes get damaged as well. I used to repair tvs so i know. Also the artista, and activa machines are made in Thailand not Switzerland, i thought all berninas were swiss made. I guess its a sign of the times. Even seeing machines are not immune to cheap quality.

Couldn't agree more. My personal machine is a Pfaff 360 in it's original "Citation" cabinet. I started my daughter out on that, and then gave her a Viking/Husqvarna 6xxx series. We replaced that with a 1 owner 930 Record and period correct cabinet with electric elevator, about 2yrs ago. She's recently added a serger to the mix, and continues to make clothing for herself, and other misc. stuff for her home.

Hi , I have a problem with my Bernina 1130 PCB ( almost identical like this one ) where in one of the capacitor is blown up. My question is could it be totally removed without replacement? If yea, are there any problems with the running of the machine? Or after removal of the broken capacitor does it need to be replaced with an appropriate replacement capacitor? I would appreciate your thoughts/ feedback please, Ramana.

If this were my machine, I would either purchase a new capacitor and solder it in, or pay someone who does electronics work to do the job. Extremely nice machine, and worth saving!

Where can I get a new Bernina circuit board to replace one that was burned? Thank you.

I don't know. Maybe ebay? Or through Bernina or a dealer?

Hi. How could you find that board . I need this exact same board and I don't how where to buy it?
@austinado1610 ай бұрын
I was working on this machine (and shooting this video), 7yrs ago. There was still an availability of parts. I don't know where you'd find parts now, but someone skilled with circuit board repair should be able to repair it easily.

Hello!. Can you show where the fuse is located?
@austinado162 жыл бұрын
The fuse is located to the lower left of the tall silver metal canister component (probably a capacitor?) in the lower left area of the circuit board. You can see the fuse come into view at 2:10 in the video, and there is a large "1.6AT" printed on the board, just above it. Even if the fuse looks good, in the middle fuse-strip area, it would be worth either replacing it, or removing it, cleaning it's contact ends, and the contact tabs on the board, and even doing an ohm test on the fuse (or just replace it). Because the machines are so old now, it's possible for a layer of light corrosion or haze to develop on that shiny metal, and interrupt the flow of current either getting to, or coming out of, the fuse.

OK. I know now how to get to the circuit board. And close it up again. But! How do I take out and put in the circuit board?

It might be nice to actually show the screws that need to be removed under the machine to remove side plate, I know mentioned but visuals are always nice. Thanks for the cool video!

Can you recommend where I can buy a new/good used circuit board that ships to South Africa?
@austinado168 жыл бұрын
Their are sellers on ebay from time to time, who have circuit boards for sale. Just make sure you purchase the version that works with your country's voltage. There is a version for 120v countries, like the one you see me installing in this video, and a version for 220v countries.

Austinado, ty for your videos -- very helpful! I have been informed that a stepper motor needs lubrication, specifically the one that controls stitch length. Is this something I can do (with instructions)? TY!
