Repair And Replace a Turbine Roof Vent

If you have a turbine roof vent , ( a whirlybird vent) that has stopped spinning or makes a loud noise as it spins, this video will help you. The video will show you how to first attempt to repair it using spray lubricant to lubricate the bearings, and then show how to replace it. The last part of the video shows how easy it is to replace the turbine head. The roof turbine allows air flow.

My top whirly bird blew off the roof. I had the roof replaced 2 years ago and I believe the roofers did not properly reattach the bird back on the roof when they were done. I am going to try to put it back on with the original parts that are still there. Thank you for showing me how the bird is constructed. Becarefull with roofers who don't finish there job properly.

Hey Mike! Question for ya... I have some old school ones that have these round disc thingies, that expand at a specific temperature and push open the internal vent. I can't find those things anywhere! Know what they're called?

House down the street has a turbine thing but it looks like it blew off and is only held on by one screw hanging 90 degrees from where it should be. I assume this is bad and let's rain in unless they blocked it and left the of turbine on?

Hard to know. Maybe remove it and see if something is preventing it from moving, like a screw that is driven through the sheet metal for example
