Good point on using the right tools for the job, and protecting the condition. Love all the tips you share in your videos. You don’t need a camera man.

Very educational video and you seem to be a nice guy seen as you didn't beat the head of the the guy that ruined your fret nippers 😂 thanks for sharing your experience with us 👍

Hey Bryan, always a pleasure. Any thoughts on the Evo fret wire as far as tone goes? I’m waiting for UPS to bring me my new D-28 modern deluxe...

Find my video on "pros and cons of stainless steel". I talk about Evo there and it's my favorite wire. I don't hear any tone difference between it and N/S and it's much less "pingy" than SS.

No worries about length on my part. I'd watch you do guitar work for hours. I love the way you explain things. For me it's easy to understand what your talking about. I wish you had a camera man & multiple cameras. If you did, I'm confident I'd be getting to see a professional neck set video very soon. I never knew Charles Sawtelle's herringbone was a 38. Charlie Waller's is also supposed to be a 38. Randy was gracious enough to let me play it at Chattanooga TN. a few yrs ago. He said that Charlie always told ppl it was a 38. Part of the serial number is gone for some reason & no one knows for sure. It was the best guitar I've ever played as well as a 1941 D-28 next to it on the same day. I'll bet Sawtelle's is as good or better. I always thought that guitar had a unique tone on the recordings I've heard. Who owns it now?

I was going on memory... I wanted to say '37, but I was thinking, noooo... '38. Let me check.... It's a '37. From the FGM that I helped write: " Although Charles Sawtelle has owned many guitars over the years, the guitar he used on all Hot Rize recording, save one, is his 1937 Martin D-28. Charles says, “This D-28 is slightly special because it has a 1/16” wider fingerboard than the standard 1 and 3/4”. It is 1 and 13/16” at the nut. It might have been a special order.” I can't find my FGM book but I'm pretty sure I spec'd the neck at 1.800" at the nut.

@@Bryankimsey That's awesome!!!! I would probably have a hard time playing that guitar. The older I get, the more issues I seem to have with the wider necks. The prewar Martins I've played all seem to have their own personalities. The oldest was a 37 D-18 that belongs to a guy I know in Owensboro, KY. It was a crazy good guitar as well.
