Good job. I was wondering how you were going to handle the paper replacement and you answered my question. Another fabulous restoration. I use my digital calipers for all sorts of things too.

that is a very beautiful paper lantern. you did an awesome job. i enjoy all your repair and restoration videos, I always look forward to seeing what old Japanese items you receive.
This is something kids need to learn in school. Technology is good for today, but not to many know the old ways. A class in specializing in an art, or something functional.

I had no idea it involved wood was used to make the... circles. I thought it would be thin wires but wood actually makes more sense. This was most excellently done sir, my hat off to you.

Even though it's old, it looks like it was properly taken care of. If there was no caring the lantern would have lots of crust and would probably even be deformed. The restoration was great, keep it up
