Kris, your videos are always just right. Some of your larger machines look look like they would have quite a history to them. Like they were turning out products for the war effort in the 40's. Thank you for taking the time to show us your tools and wonderful shop.

I like a clean shop. This may sound old fashioned but I believe you can tell a lot about a fella and the condition of his shop and the tools. Your tool tour made me green and your shop is in outstanding condition Whats the kicker about your shop and tools is its a working shop in mint condition Respect where its due sir your equipment is 1st class UK Darren

Thanks a million for the tour! I'm in the early stages of planning my new workshop (hope to start building it in the next 6-12 months) so I'm looking at as many different setups as I can. Yours rates as one of the best I've seen so far. Thanks again!

Matt Ward thank you very much!! theres atleast 2 people that dont like it...lol, but i know i sure do!! im out here 7 days a week rebuilding engines, doing machining, selling grease n oil, hardware, making hyd hoses! i love it!!! You're doing the right thing, look at as many as you can, take your time, learn, get ideas and use that to build the perfect shop for you!! Good luck and happy shopping!!

That is really a nice shop. I hope that once I get my new shop going I will be able to keep mine so clean by not already having a full building before i ever even started moving machines in. That is a lot of 5.9 rods in one pile!
@krismorse5296
@krismorse5296 8 жыл бұрын
thank you!! the company i build for sent those rods, they want them re-bushed and honed, but i cant find a tapered driver to r/r the bushing so i started building one, but ive been so busy with cyl heads and engines i havent had time to finish it.
@bcbloc02
@bcbloc02 8 жыл бұрын
Kris Morse 5.9's certainly aren't the throw away motor that the 3116 and 3126Cats are but they borderline on being worth rebuilding vs buying a good dyno salvage engine. At least that arbor press will make quick work or R&R;ing them after you get the driver made. I know all about that busy thing, it gets in the way but it pays the bills!

@krismorse5296

thats what that head mill is built for, heads, blocks and manifolds. you can do some work on the Bridgeport but your so limited on length. i can put a 3 foot cyl head on the head mill and cut it with no issues

I really like you're Crane. How did you determine the 5 ton capacity?
@krismorse5296
@krismorse5296 5 жыл бұрын
Thank you! I figured the weakest link was the casters so I added up their capacity and used that for my limit since the rest is overbuilt. Sofar I've had 8,600 lbs hanging on it and when it was there, I climbed up with a ladder, used a straightedge and a .0015 feeler gauge to see if the beam flexed and it did not.

@WatchWesWork 8 жыл бұрын
Just from the size of the beam. Do you know the S size? I can do a quick calculation.
@krismorse5296
@krismorse5296 8 жыл бұрын
+Wes Johnson of course i know the size, i built it. its a 10" beam on 1/2" plates on 4"x6"x1/4" wall uprights with 4"x4"x1/4" gussets on 8" beams plated on the ends with sold cast iron rubber coated wheels that hold 2700 lbs each. ive already hung approximately 8000 lbs on it with a 3 ton trolley and chainfall from harbor freight. Though i am extremely surprised the hook held up due to the 3.2 ton rating on it, it did just fine, even got the ladder out, went up with one of my straight edges for checking blocks and heads and a .0015 feeler gauge and it would not slide under so i think it will be ok.

Typical crane beams have a 5:1 safety factor on stress. Yours is 3:1. But, if it's just you using it and no OSHA it should be fine. I don't envy you cranking up 5 tons by hand though. Like I said, cool shop.
