Thanks for sharing! I just got a few older cabinets and going through them all now. I just about have it sorted for now. I got old red 1202 and a Dickies and both work, turners included. I have a Brinsea OvaEasy 380 and the timer or switch is not working on the turner but it is absolutely rock solid 0.3° variation from top to bottom.

My incubator won’t exceed 68 degrees it worked a couple months ago, what do you think might be the problem
@justtinkering60542 жыл бұрын
There are so many variables that it’s hard to say. Is it inside a heated building? Is it exposed to drafts? Are the vent holes all open? Check all electrical connections. Check the heating coil. Is the thermostat calling for heat all the time? Do you have a backup thermostat? Is the backup thermostat set too low? If it’s inside your house, no drafts, vents closed about 3/4, backup thermostat is all the way open, primary thermostat is calling for heat but the box wont heat up, I’d say the heating element or primary thermostat is bad. If the primary thermostat is not calling for heat when it should be, remove the backup thermostat. If The primary thermostat still doesn’t call for heat when it should, I’d say the primary thermostat is bad. These are just a couple ideas. Before you go replacing anything expensive make sure you are certain of the cause of the problem. I once had an old 1202 GQF that I upgraded to electronic thermostat from wafers. It worked fine on wafers. When I swapped in the brand new electronic thermostat the unit wouldn’t heat up. I sent the thermostat back to GQF. They tested it and said it was good. They couldn’t figure out why it wouldn’t work. Willy, the head technician at GQF at the time, got so frustrated with it that he told me he couldn’t fix my problem. I put wafers back in it and it works fine to this day. These things can be finicky.

You may have a model that I am not familiar with. I would look for a wiring diagram online or call them for one.

I don’t remember what model the Dickey’s unit was but I think the GQF was a model 1202.

Does it have an electronic thermostat? If so, was it recently converted from wafer? Is there a backup wafer?

Hello I just bought a used 1502 Sportsman automatic incubator but it only tilts to one side the egg tray racks on automatic position what could it be?
@justtinkering60544 жыл бұрын
Since the motor is turning, the problem is either the linkage from the motor to the racks, or the contact switch. If it were me, I'd pop the top off the incubator and investigate what's going on in the back of the unit. GQF technical support could probably help you out too. I have had to call them in the past for help.

Can u tell me how to replace the heating element in an incubator
@justtinkering60544 жыл бұрын
Levi Ford it’s pretty straight forward on a GQF or Dickey’s cabinet. Make sure the unit is unplugged. Remove the wire guard protecting the element, though some models don’t have a guard. Unscrew the electrical connections on each end of the element and install the new element in the reverse order.
@leviford33024 жыл бұрын
Ok thanks I’ve purchased a old David Bradley out of redwood not sure what they are worth but just wanted to get it fixed it didn’t have the heat coil on it so I wasn’t sure im gonna need insulators as well but I found a kit that will work I think

GFPRACING they both use a lot of the same parts, but I like the gqf latches better on these models. Newer models might be different than these. I am sure both of these units are a little old.
