Is that pressure reading the pressure at which it operates or was that you starting to increase it? I understand there is a ~10 PSI pressure drop across this kind of BFP during high flow operation and I want to know if I can measure the full extent of the pressure drop across the BFP if I connect a gauge to port #3?

the pressure reading was the difference between the high and low side of the check. I am not 100 percent on dual checks which this is, but on an rpz you are correct you will lose about 10 pounds through it. a gauge on the #4 the last port should give you working pressure when static and high flow. if using a testing kit you would use the high hose to give the pressure reading. hope this helps!
