Thanks a bunch. I blew the fuse testing continuity between connections in my car. I disconnected the battery and propped the cable up, but it fell and touched the battery terminal, sending current through my meter while i was testing. I asked my local electronics guy, and he told me I'd probably have to desolder components and replace them. I'm glad you were here to show me how easy it would really be!

Hi Rounak Roy, Thanks a million for this video, you saved me from buy new multimeter. I exactly had the same problem, i have same mastech multimeter. I changed fuse today and continuous beeb stopped. Multimeter is fine now, I could measure resistors value now. I checked many forum, none gave this suggestion. Most of site diagnose this as multimeter problem and suggested to go for new one. I had the same problems resistance was increasing when the probes are in contact and in continuity mode or buzzer mode buzzer was beeping even when the probes were not in contact.After watching this video i just changed the fuse and multimeter is worjing properly.THANKS BRO.

The cause is very simple. It is due to passage of current more than 200 mA which is the rating of the fuse. The high current has blown the fuse.

Hi there'...since now the F1 is fixed.. continuity works fine when connected between first two ports...what about the the other two ports and it's fuse (F2)... should we replace that one too? ..to get precise readings?

No.... It is only when reading upto 10 A are not visible.... fuse1 and 2 both uses different circuit... There will be no problem of precision in this case

Anonymous Beast Unfortunately this meter the one you have mentioned has un-fused shunts, so if you were to overload it, then chances are that the PCB traces will burn. In simple words this DMM do not contain safety fuses in all probability. Hope this helps :)

In West Bengal, Kolkata , Chadni Market you will get one pc of 100ohm resistor for Rs 1 or 12 pcs for Rs 4(in some shops only). The fuse will cost around Rs 10. Hope this helps....:)

meri jaan KABADDI In some DMM fuses are not present, so it's better to take care of the fact that you do not pass high current through it about 5A or so. Most DMM can withstand upto 10A max. So I will recommend you to measure current about 2A or less and better not use it to measure high voltages >250V. Hope this helps, take care :)
