What happens if you cut too much into the seat. Lot's of warnings about this. I have a leak and very stiff taps on the kitchen sink. Would lubricating the spindles make the taps smoother to use? Is there a situation where the spindles need to be replaced. I am dealing with taps that are about 40 years old, and maintenance has not been happening.

+Theo You simply dont cut too much into the seat Theo. As we say in the video and on the website page, just do a little at a time until the drip stops. If the drip does not stop the tap is ruined anyway so time for a new one. It is unlikely that a spindle should need replacing as there is no real wear on the spindle itself, a little WD 40 will release any reluctance for it to turn and, once again, if the spindle is actually broken or damaged the cost and difficulty of obtaining the correct spindle probably far outweighs the cost of the tap
