very good information. Just opened up our 2019 Lodge park model to discover a soft floor under the sliding door, I'm sure it's been leaking since new ( we ordered this new in 18) Wondering if I can just pull the flooring back, cutting out the last foot, replacing the soft part and just re-glue the floor back in place. Would that work ?

Came across your video while searching how to replace the outside joist under the camper door, everything else you show is what I am planning to do. But I do have a question how does the floor hold up after using the camper for traveling did the flooring stay connected together? I was going to go with LifeProof Peel & Stick to avoid the disconnecting problem.
@AllThingsMech2 жыл бұрын
The camper has been in use for about a year now out in California for a drilling rig crew so I haven't seen it, but from everything I've been told they've had no issues with the flooring and everything is still holding up fine. I've never had an issue with this flooring separating...short of a crash or other severe structural damage, is nearly impossible for that to happen if it's properly installed. It locks together very securely. Anything that is peel and stick will be vastly inferior to a locking/floating tile setup like this.

Love your videos! I just purchased a 2002 Holiday Rambler and as I was taking the carpet up to install the vinyl flooring, I discovered rotting wood in my floor and I was wondering is this fixable without having to replace the whole wooden flooring? Thank you and I look forward to your reply! Sharon from Florida
@AllThingsMech2 жыл бұрын
Good morning Sharon, thanks for the kind words! Without seeing what you're up against first hand, it's very hard to determine how extensive the damage is or what steps you would need to take to repair it. I can say that in many cases, wood rot is salvageable if you are comfortable with cutting out the bad section(s) and cutting/installing new pieces to replace the damaged ones. It really boils down to your level of comfort/skill. If you're unsure how to go about the repair while keeping it safe, especially if load bearing surfaces/cross members are affected, then I would strongly advise that you contact a local professional contractor to have them inspect the floor and either complete the work for you, or make recommendations as to how you can do it yourself. Some contractors are happy to provide that kind of advice for a nominal inspection/service fee, others are more reluctant if they aren't the ones doing the work. You may need to call around a little and ask questions before you commit to having anyone come out. Anyway, I know that probably wasn't the exact answer you were looking for, but I certainly don't want to send you down a path that would lead you into trouble or make your trailer dangerous! Thank you again for you comment, and for watching my videos. 🙂

@@AllThingsMech thank you for your advice! We have quite a bit of rot, so it is good to know it can be salvaged! Have you ever heard of putting tin over it? I was told I could buy some at Lowes and Home Depot. They said just cut it and cover it with self leveling compound over it! What do you think? I look forward to your answer!

Did you find the leak? How did you repair the leak?
@AllThingsMech2 жыл бұрын
I did, and I filmed the repair, but all of that footage was corrupted so I wasnt able to include it in the video. Basically the dealership used a bunch of interior tile caulk to join the fiberglass panels together where they had been replaced. The caulk dried out, shrunk and separated, which allowed water to run right into the wall as it ran down the side of the camper. I scraped out all of the old caulk and used DAP Dynaflex 230 clear silicone to repair the panels properly. It's been over a year now with no additional water ingress so it appears to be holding.

How do you keep the slide out from hanging up on the flooring
@AllThingsMech2 жыл бұрын
The slide out doesn't touch the flooring. There are a couple feet of the subfloor under the couch that can't be seen, even at full extension. They were left bare to accommodate the areas where it needs to move in and out.

Are you leaving the trim white?
@AllThingsMech3 жыл бұрын
It was painted a very light sandy brown color. The difference is subtle, but it's more noticeable in person. The boss picked the color of the paint but after applying it we both agreed that it should have been darker. It still looks ok so he decided that it wasn't worth taking the time to repaint.

Awesome job! Can you share what kind of camper this is? BTW you need to put some affiliate links. Make some $ while your sharing. We use lifeproof flooring . I bet you could get a link and earn some $ by selling their product through your videos.
@AllThingsMech3 жыл бұрын
Hey, thanks! I am currently working on affiliate links and monetization stuff, but there may be some changes on the horizon for my family and I so I've sort of held off for the time being. The trailer is a Thor Summit, although I don't know the exact model number. Thanks for watching and for the kind words, much appreciated!
