My mechanic just changed the seal for the 2nd time. He said my flange was smooth and had no grooves but said if this seal leaks he would replace the flange. Is the flange the same as the yoke?

That balancer has seen better days. But it's good you haven't scrapped it yet, so you could show off the sleeve.

Never throwing anything away sometimes works out. When I pulled it from under the bench I was expecting it to just be grooved, so it was a win.

Hey I have a manual transmission where the throwout bearing has worn a divot in the outside casing around the input shaft where it rides. I thought about putting some kind of sleeve on it but figured it would need to be lathed or milled round first. any thoughts?

Depends on how out of round it is. The trick is centering the bushing

@@YoshimoshiGarage My dad advised me to just sand it to a smooth gradient and put grease but it really bothers my OCD that the bearing is not dead on center. Hey it works though

YEP,thats a slick option.I'm looking at my 1966 sbc 283 harmonic balancer with the same dilemma.
