I’ve never found theses cheap enough to get locally, great job on the fuse.

Yeah I got lucky with this one. The Genesis 1 was a bonus.

9 times out of 10 thats the only thing wrong with all the sega cds
@koztech Жыл бұрын
Pretty much, especially if using the wrong power adapter, like an NES AC adapter. The voltage regulator can also take damage from doing so.

Usually they blow because of age and the system pulling more amps and the fuse gives up
@koztech Жыл бұрын
I guess that makes sense too, especially now that I've read it.

I like Cobra Command a lot, but suit yourself. Road Avenger is even better as far as Sega CD anime FMV games go.

I KNEW I would offend at least one person with that comment lol! Thought about editing it out but decided to keep it in anyway. Honestly I only got that game because it was cheap and available locally, and I didn't want to spend a ton on a game that could potentially get ruined by a defective Sega CD, especially if I couldn't repair it. But if you like it, awesome! Don't let anyone disway you from what you enjoy. Everyone has a game they like that others don't. Final Fantasy Mystic Quest gets a lot of hate but i genuinely like that game.

hey bro... so ive been working on my model 2 sega cd and right next to the fuse (FL301) i ended up pulling it out. is there a way that i can solder it back on the board? once again its the fuse with the red like metal wire.

So if it's the component I'm thinking of that's probably an inductor (looks like it has red wires spun around it, sometimes called a coil or filter). As long as the component is intact and the pads haven't been ripped off you should be able to solder it back. If the pads are damaged you'd need to either create new ones or to try soldering the inductor to wherever the pads originally connected to. If the component is damaged it will need to be replaced. No idea if the value is known however. I know you can search online for service manuals, just look for Sega CD Model 2 service manual. Might show a parts list or at least a diagram.

Hey bro.. so I’m currently searching online for that specific inductor coil, but I’m not too sure the rating of the coil. On top of the small black box it reads “300”.. is that the amperage for the coil that I need to replace?
@kingcris64207 ай бұрын
Also I want to show you a picture of what exactly I’m talking about but I guess I’d have to email you.. are you ok with that?
@koztech7 ай бұрын
I'd rather not share my email but you can look at my bio for my Facebook and message me there. However, it looks like that coil is a Taiyo Yuden CM08RB01 choke coil. Discontinued. But the specs are: impedance: 2500Ω, measuring frequency: 30MHz, inductance: 40μH impedance (μH means micro-Henries), current: 2A, 100MΩ resistance minimum. That should help find a suitable replacement. You can still find the product sheet for more detailed specs.

What paint you use to paint the shields
@koztech Жыл бұрын
Just Rust-Oleum Universal Metallic spray paint. In this case, the finish is dark steel, but they have a few options.

Thats the wrong battery. You need a ML2023 rechargeable battery.

Not if you add a diode to block the charging.
