Repairing Clear Coat on a Honda Civic "Failure"

I used Dupli color paint on my Honda Civic paint to repair my Clear Coat, Perfect Match Paint

thanks for sharing your “learn the hard way” lessons from your project. So much time and work for an outcome that lets you down. Probably worth spending good money on proper paints and renting a spray system but will still need the right prep work and techniques.

Yes, I’ve purchased a spray gun and found a place that will mix up some paint, I just need to find the time to try again 👍🏼

I’ll be giving it another try soon, exactly what I’ll be doing, going to have my paint matched and stay it with a sprayer, we’ll see how it works out

I like your approach of video making. I think if you would've tried to feather in your sanding to blend the olf and new paint together, with clear coat on top (using a 2K hard type clear coat), you would've been more satisfied.

I'm early in researching this but I think some suggest that it's possible that the paint isn't damaged (if you catch it early enough) and you can often get away with just replacing the clearcoat.

Not a safety issue, therefore no required recall, You basically bought a "bad product", nothing illegal going on. Speaking like a "lawyer" would... You could have brought a clear coat depth gauge to the dealership when you bought the car and saw the coat was thin. I mean what average consumer would do that but you get the point.

I think you got the wrong paint color, there are different greys/silvers from Honda.

I have used the duplicolor match paint. I have never had any luck with it. The colors are always way off. My Civic is a peeling mess. Too far gone to bother lol

I need to find another option, paint shops wanting 3k to paint a car worth 5k

@@dannysdiygarage I find UAP can mix up some pretty good spray cans. An other thing with Duplicolor colr march is that the cans are small and the paint is thin like water.

Too much paint applied holly shit first off it probably does match but the rest of your car has oxidized and obviously not have uv stability clear coat the sun has changed the existing color you gotta sand the whole car down an re blast the paint an then clear that all it is
