Just last week I gutted an old beat up GBC that still had a working motherboard put those guts into a FunnyPlaying IPS backlight XL kit w/new shell. This thing is freaking awesome, I still can't get over how good the image on it is. And the slightly larger screen makes it so much easier to see.

Cool too see youre making videos again! if you dont know which faulty gbc to work on Polls are good. my gbc rarely reads carts and no sound if a parts supplier has readers and you could get a discount code from them that would be great.

the unit at around 11 months in looks like it might have either a defective CPU, or one of the test pins have become unconnected on the board. I messed around with one of my GBCs once and managed to get a similar graphical glitch, but with it happening on boot and after loading a program/game without it locking up is why I think it may have been a defective CPU. interesting stuff!

fyi, the helder replacement DC-DC is 5V only. it wont power up OEM screens if the OEM DC-DC is broken.

Looks like that one was missing capacitors. You can buy a GBC cap kit from a bunch of different websites. What issue is yours having?

@@esotericsean my issue is the same, when I turn on the gbc (which was very corroded), I only see lines on the screen, as your 4th gameboy on the video. I send you a picture of the screen. I’ll try to replace capacitors
