Hello my friend, I thought it was very kind, considerate, and thoughtful to produce your trigger stick maintenance video. I thought you came across as very confident in what you were doing and showing us. Although it may not be rocket science, often, many people like me just need that little push of encouragement that sends them on their way. Thank you again. You are great at what you do, and you are very kind and considerate.

Great video, Easy to follow and every step explained. You did the repair with speed which makes me think you've done a few repairs. I have a 2nd Gen Primos Bi-Pod and one of the legs would not lock into place. After watching your video, and following your advice, My Primos Bi-Pod shooting sticks will hunt again this season. I used them last year on a Idaho Mule Deer hunt and a cow elk hunt in Wyoming, both hunts were successful using my Primos shooting sticks.

A very good explanation for this kind of failure. I have successfully fixed the bug that was showing up on one trigger stick. Your video helped me a lot. Well done for such a video!

My bipod Trigger Stick Gen2 had one of the legs partially freeze up. I took it apart as you showed (THANK YOU!). I had a difficult time removing the plastic cap on the middle of the stick when I started. I kept putting a scalpel blade down around it to cut through the epoxy. It took 30 min of fussing with it, but it came loose and I was able to disassemble the leg. The metal shaft was stuck with the little actuator in the half-down/up position. I put WD-40 on it and then tapped on both ends of the leg. It finally came loose. I kept squirting WD-40 until all the rust was gone. I used carb cleaner to remove all excess grease and a wire brush to clean off the little piece with the roller bearings. Saved me a lot of time and effort and I likely would have ruined it without your video. I hunted with it last night and it worked perfectly!

The plastic cap in the middle of the leg is glued on. I heated it carefully with a heat gun (careful you don't melt it!) and off it came.

No ‘O’ rings found, interesting. I’ve just purchased a Primos tall Gen 2 tripod and as I given to do given it a squirt of Ballistol Universal Oil. Your strip down and servicing was easy to follow, thank you very much.

I’m very much obliged to you sir, I bought my Gen II trigger sticks 3 years ago 2nd hand and have had no major issues with them until last night whilst out Pest Controlling one of the 3 legs failed ( sliding like a trombone) rendering the tripod totally useless. So I decided to see what could be done to remedy the situation and came across your extremely helpful and informative video . As a result 20 minutes after the do I don’t I / shall I sharn’t I moment having gathered the appropriate tools together and following your advice I am now back up and running, with a set of fully functional trigger sticks. Many thanks for sharing your video , I’m well pleased that I watched it.

Great video, I eventually saved mine which had been in the garage for about a year. I never took the leg off, just broke the epoxy and started from there. 👍

Very useful video. I have one leg that is really "stuck" and basically won't move at all when the trigger is depressed. There is a little corrosion on the bottom end (after taking apart), but not much. Tapping does no good. I'm trying to soak the bottom end-piece in penetrating oil, and am trying to trickle some oil down from the top. Is there any way to take apart the top of the leg to possibly free up the 'rod' that runs up the inside?

Having never handled one I was intrigued at their high price. Now I understand why. Looks like a well made bit of kit. Might have to get myself a set. Great video. Many thanks.

had two pairs of these when the second pair went they also went back to the shop. Now I'm thinking of investing in the gen 3 version wondering wether they were any better. I only really want them, for a quick camera setup

When you stripped the leg into two parts there is a black plastic of plastic over the top of the tube about (about 50mm long). Mine on my faulty leg is loose, is it meant to be glued to the tube? Your doesn’t appear to move, looks glued in place.
@crazycressy7986Ай бұрын
You could also clean the inside of the tube 😊

I have the tall and short gen 3 sticks. Only had them a couple of months. The tall one is sticking after about 10 uses in dry weather (shooting) and 5 uses in dry weather (camera). No soiling or mistreating. Are the gen 3 and 2 the same principal?

Well done! What kind of glue, epoxy did you use at the end?

Trigger sticks are a great asset and I value them second only to my firearm in my hunting gear. However, they are a flawed design, which I've pointed out to Primos to no avail. The upper shaft of the leg is inserted into the larger diameter lower part, leaving room for moisture to funnel straight into the joint in wet conditions. Add freezing temperatures and the legs will not slide. This has cost me a nice whitetail buck. My suggestion to the manufacturer is to use the larger shaft at the top of the leg so it slides down over the lower leg, allowing moisture to shed past the joint and on down the outside of the legs.

I have the original version of this. Have had it about 4 years or so and the leg is doing the same thing. Unfortunately, I can't just twist off the cap. Most likely will have to use a heat gun to break the epoxy seal. Good video.

+Jesse Conrad thanks, always nice to get appreciation. Heat sounds good. A leather glove for padding and then a pair of water pump grips or similar may help to get more force on it hopefully without leaving marks. Good luck!

I have a Primo's Bipod Trigger Stick and it's not at all like yours. The video is good. I just don't have any T9 bits. :(. All the kits I found online are missing the T9 bits. Just my luck. But I did find a bit that allowed me to remove the legs off and now I can work with the tube better. My plunger is stuck so tight that it won't budge. It was really corroded and dirty. I spread some WD40 into the plastic housing with the metal roller and got it cleaned up with some Carborator Cleaner and then had to wash it with some hot water and soap. Then I cleaned out each roller with a pick and then after I got it pretty clean I put some more WD40 on it and then cleaned it out with a paper towel. It's nice and clean now. But the tube inside the leg is stuck tight. I and using some PB Cleaner to try to work it loose and get it moving. I'm going to leave it overnight to see if the PB blaster can loosen it up. OK after a few days of soaking in PB Blaster and Seafoam Deep Creep the tube is still stuck and won't budge so the inside won't slide in and out as it should. I'm going to just junk this old thing and buy a new Gen 3 Bipod. I never took mine out in the rain. So not sure how it got so rusted so that the leg won't work with the trigger stick.
@mrscott833 ай бұрын
I had to beat the hell out of both ends. I partically screwed on the nut the held the roller bearing piece. I soaked it in WD-40 and had to keep tapping both ends. It finally came free and i worked it back and forth with lots of WD-40. Keep trying, it will come loose.

Looks to me like you do not have to take the leg completely off to do this fix. Simply Break the Epoxy on the cap and slide the Leg off using the Trigger. Simple
