Chris that was absolutely awesome.. sounds great ..that sound is awesome.. when I look at antiques I can’t help but to imagine the excitement of the people that bought it new and how hard they had to work just to buy something that wasn’t feeding the family 👊🏻

Good repair and I would agree with stopping the turntable by hand before applying the brake. I have read that just applying the brake can be bad for the spring. It's also worth knowing that you shouldn't rotate the turntable by hand as this causes the spring to wind down and when it becomes completely unwound the end of it can pop off the rivet it's attached to. In many motors the spring is only held at the end by a tear shaped hole which allows for easy spring replacement. If this happens, then it usually requires disassembly of the motor to fix. Thanks 😀 👍

I note that the screw is pointing out above the rubber. Is the screw acting as the brake or the rubber? I thought I heard the screw scraping against the underside of the table/disk when you applied the brake.
@TheUltimateRecycler4 жыл бұрын
Neither the screw top nor the rubber top touch the underside of the platter David. The contact point is high on the side of the rubber.

how come the worm gear is driven by the spur gear. Isn't worm gear self-locking or am I missing something? I am trying to do a 3d explainer video on that and I need to know..please help
@TheUltimateRecycler2 жыл бұрын
Hi there. I'm not totally across the mechanics of the motor, but I think the worm gear assembly just drives the governor which limits the speed of the main drive somehow. I don't quite remember!
@quasaranimationstudio79722 жыл бұрын
@@TheUltimateRecycler Thanks for the reply. But I've seen another one restoring video and to my surprise, that spur gear really drive the worm governor assembly. I guess that worm gears are not self locking.
