Its about the cap mostly. To keep him they would run the risk off going over. If the pay the luxury tax the can. Denver isn't a large market so probably why they didn't. I'm a magic fan so I love the signing. They have 50 million in cap space. Still have around thirty. So they can make another good signing or roll with what they got. They need atleast one more signing to fill the roster. This signing helps all their needs. He can shoot three from the guard spot. He can defend at a high level. Stays healthy. Alot of solid playoff success.

Just a guess as to why the Denver front office is letting these guys go, it must be that they are content with the 1 championship OR they want to build a revamped team around Jokic that can beat the T-Wolves. (like he said in the video, maybe they strategized and want a different team sort of to beat the Twolves. The Twolves were build to beat the Nuggest, so maybe that loss scared them I guess) But Westbrook is terrible at this point for Denver. I think the Nuggets made a mistake. They should run it back. Maybe add one piece to try to counter the TWolves. They must be really scared the TWolves are on the rise and want to completely revamp, but they Nuggets should just run it back or go into the luxury tax to beat the T-Wolves. But they might at this point be happy with the one championship and just want to contend but not go into the salary cap.
