@@demitraferles7970 the tools are cheap! They used Kiwi polish! You can get that at the grocery store! And if you can’t afford a good soft brush, use soft material like flannel. Don’t use terry cloth or anything with ridges. I don’t know how microfiber would do. When my Dad used to get shoe shines they used fabric. If you do get a brush, it must be soft enough to not leave brush strokes. The polish can be applied with just about anything: cloth; a brush, a soft toothbrush; a sponge (no holes like a wedged makeup sponge or such.) The other items, water repellent and odor eliminator, you can buy in time. So to start you just need flannel rags and shoe polish, leather soap to clean, towel to dry. That’s it! A Magic Eraser will clean leather tennis shoes. I hope this helps! Oh! And keep everything in a box or basket under the sink. That way you’ll be ready to do a pair without looking around!

Luke, it's up to US to bring that about. People seem to think that the economy would die if people repair things. It's a warped way of living and probably the main reason the planet is in such a mess. We were not born to be rampant consumers of high end or low end goods.

@@Gloomyraindrop I don't know who you think makes enough money to spend $1000 on something that will need a $100 fix every year or so until they're totally torn apart in 10 years, but it certainly isn't even the middle class. Raising minimum wage wouldn't help a single bit with this problem. Lowering the cost of a more sustainable solution would. But also, most people are going to just buy new tennis shoes every 6 months because they are more comfortable and ergonomically friendly than any dress shoe could ever be. So I'm not sure it matters.

@@robetmenenunyg3667 it’s pretty common to use this material in Louboutin repairs. They use it as it’s more durable than the red bottom leather and will last during wears. The seam showing seems a tad annoying though, I agree. Also I’ve never liked that the color this material comes in has an orange hue to it. To me it’s very noticeable but I suppose as long as you’re not down there inspecting it’ll do the job well enough.

You can actually see that whoever wore these took nice care of them. She just wore them for a long time. But the heels are intact, which means she changed the heeltaps regularly, and the soles are worn out but sit well where they should be. Nothing is torn from its place. Nooo that’s not true. That red rubber sole is quite grippy. This red rubber material was made to cover Louboutin soles to make them non-slip. I have 2 pairs of Valentino shoes that I brought to the cobbler to have the soles covered in the same type of rubber so I don’t slip and fall

finding wearable vintage shoes like this is truly an accomplishment, as much as restoring them is. many of the shoes from the victorian era are marveled at for being so small, but the reason that they're so small is because they were the pairs nobody could wear. everything larger, therefore wearable, was worn until it fell apart and then discarded.
@jadecoolness101
@jadecoolness101 3 жыл бұрын
I feel like if the ‘seam’ on the sole was sanded down, it’d be less liable to pull up. As in, the raised part of the red rubber that meets with the red sole. If that part had been sanded to a taper, it’d sit more flush to the sole, so it wouldn’t get snagged. Still aside from that, this is amazing.
