I'm praying for brother Zac Poonen and other Spirit-led Christian elders to continue in the faith and finish strong. Zac is like a loving father who sees his son's potential better than son does and exhorts him. "Don't settle, my son. Don't settle. There's so much more in Christ Jesus for you!!" I'm encouraged that he cited A.W. Tozer, one of my favorite theologians, someone who was in tune with the deeper life in Christ. Fittingly one of his books is called "Dangers of a Shallow Faith." Tozer went to be with the LORD in 1963, but this book could've just as easily been written today. The Holy Spirit gave him insight into how entertainment was coming into the church as a substitute for joy and the "celebrity Christian" culture, an oxymoron if there ever was one. Whether it's a "pastor" who's the face of the megachurch franchise or a famous person who claims to be a Christian but whose lifestyle screams the opposite.
