I was always feeling like I will never be a good christian like the ones I would see in church. I felt destined to be a bad christian, with inward scars that I alone am cursed to live with. And you know that He was manifested to take away our sins, and in Him there is no sin. Whoever abides in Him DOES NOT SIN. Whoever sins has neither seen Him nor known Him. Little children, let no one deceive you. He who practices righteousness is righteous, just as He is righteous. HE WHO SINS IS OF THE DEVIL, for the devil has sinned from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that He might destroy the works of the devil. Whoever has been born of God does not sin, for His seed remains in him; and he cannot sin, because he has been born of God. In this the children of God and the children of the devil are manifest: Whoever does not practice righteousness is not of God, nor is he who does not love his brother. For this is the message that you heard from the beginning, that we should love one another, not as Cain who was of the wicked one and murdered his brother. And why did he murder him? Because his works were evil and his brother’s righteous. Do not marvel, my brethren, if the world hates you. We know that we have passed from death to life, because we love the brethren. He who does not love his brother abides in death. Whoever hates his brother is a murderer, and you know that no murderer has eternal life abiding in him.” I John 3:4-15 NKJV

The Gospel is this; the Lord Jesus Christ the eternal Son of God, God the Son, the promised Messiah, entered into His own creation in the likeness of man to redeem man - fully God and fully man, born of a virgin, born under the Law, lived a perfectly sinless life fulfilling the Law in it's entirety, the only One to ever do so. He voluntarily went to the cross to pay the penalty of the sins of the whole world, He was crucified, He died, was buried proving He was dead, and the third day God raised Him to life for our justification according to the Scriptures. Since he didn't answer you I will try. Of course God doesn't want His blood bought people to continue in sin and He wants us to follow Him and do good works for Him. Here's the thing. Those things FOLLOW salvation, not precede it and certainly don't CAUSE us to get saved. When a person gets born again and are given the new nature or "new creation" then and only then do you have the ability to do literally anything for God. Before that you "are dead in trespasses and sins." Ephesians 2:1 A dead man can't do anything to please God or anything to serve God! You become His child by adoption into the family and God becomes your heavenly Father. Before salvation God was your Judge and ONLY your Judge. The point is a matter of ORDER as I believe brother Pearl is correct on. We do not clean up our lives or promise God we won't sin again in order to believe and finally get saved. Good works are the PRODUCT of salvation not the CAUSE of it. They are the FRUIT of salvation not the ROOT of it. If you don't see the difference I don't know how to make it any plainer. Trying to clean up your life will produce one thing, you'll be a more moral sinner that is still on your way to hell. This stems from Catholicism which is exactly where many Protestant religions STILL to this day get much of their false doctrines. Repentance is a change of mind literally and that's exactly what it means. Part of that change is the admission of your guilt as a hell deserving sinner and changing your mind about Christ and the true God Who alone made the way of salvation for us through the work of Christ on the cross. Faith is the placing of your trust in Christ's substitutionary sacrifice on the cross for us and believing the gospel about Christ in His death, burial, and resurrection for our sins. The Bible couldn't be plainer that salvation is totally by God's grace and it's "not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us." A good Christian life BEGINS at salvation. You DO NOT become instantly a perfect person or a mature Christian upon placing your faith in Christ. Justification is instantaneous, but sanctification is a life long process. You never deserved salvation to get it and you certainly don't keep it in your own power or righteousness.

If we say that we have no sin we make Him a lier and his word is not in us but if we confess of that sin he is just and faithful to forgive us of our sin. He saved us not by works we have done in righteousness but by his mercy he saved us. Titus 3:5 I for one will admit I’m no perfect saint but great full to be saved by grace by the only one who is perfect = Jesus.

Because one who is truly saved, who has accepted Yeshua as their Lord and Saviour, their sins are paid for. To sin no more is to believe. Not they they no longer sin, but they turn from the sin based lifestyle. Actual change, comes with time.

God changed His mind about about punishing Nineveh because they repented: they changed their mind about continuing in sin. They "turned from their evil way": ⚫ "And God saw their works, that they turned from their evil way; and God repented of the evil, that he had said that he would do unto them; and he did it not." (Jonah 3:10) Here's what Jesus had to say about Nineveh: ⚫ "The men of Nineveh shall rise in judgment with this generation, and shall condemn it: because they *repented* at the preaching of Jonas; and, behold, a greater than Jonas is here." (Jesus, in Matthew 12:41) *It certainly appears to me that Jesus understood "repent" was in reference to turning from sin.* Here's a few more verses showing "repent" in the context of turning from sin: ⚫ "And lest, when I come again, my God will humble me among you, and that I shall bewail many which have sinned already, and have not *_repented of the uncleanness and fornication and lasciviousness which they have committed."_* (the apostle Paul, 2 Corinthians 12:21) ⚫ "But Peter said unto him, Thy money perish with thee, because thou hast thought that the gift of God may be purchased with money. Thou hast neither part nor lot in this matter: for thy heart is not right in the sight of God. *_Repent therefore of this thy wickedness,_* and pray God, if perhaps the thought of thine heart may be forgiven thee." (Acts 8:20-22) ⚫ "And the rest of the men which were not killed by these plagues yet repented not of the works of their hands, that they should not worship devils, and idols of gold, and silver, and brass, and stone, and of wood: which neither can see, nor hear, nor walk: Neither *_repented they of their murders, nor of their sorceries, nor of their fornication, nor of their thefts."_* (Revelation 9:20,21) ⚫ "And the fifth angel poured out his vial upon the seat of the beast; and his kingdom was full of darkness; and they gnawed their tongues for pain, And blasphemed the God of heaven because of their pains and their sores, and *_repented not of their deeds."_* (Rev 16:10,11) ⚫ "I hearkened and heard, but they spake not aright: no man *_repented him of his wickedness,_* saying, What have I done? every one turned to his course, as the horse rusheth into the battle." (Jeremiah 8:6) ⚫ "Take heed to yourselves: *_If thy brother trespass against thee, rebuke him; and if he repent, forgive him._* And *_if he trespass against thee seven times in a day, and seven times in a day turn again to thee, saying, I repent; thou shalt forgive him."_* (Luke 17:3,4) ⚫ "And I gave her space to *_repent of her fornication;_* and she repented not. Behold, I will cast her into a bed, and them that commit adultery with her into great tribulation, except they *_repent of their deeds."_* (Revelation 2:21,22) ⚫ "When Jesus heard it, he saith unto them, They that are whole have no need of the physician, but they that are sick: I came not to call the righteous, but *_sinners to repentance."_* (Mark 2:17) ⚫ "I say unto you, that likewise joy shall be in heaven over one *_sinner that repenteth,_* more than over ninety and nine just persons, which need no repentance." (Luke 15:7) We are all sinners in need of God's mercy. How do we enter His promised mercy? ⚫ "He that covereth his sins shall not prosper: but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy." (Proverbs 28:13) ⚫ "Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the LORD, and he will have mercy upon him . . . " (Isaiah 55:7)

In the book of jonah who did the repenting ? And if you offer your filthybrags to jesus on judgment day instead of believing in the blood of christ you will be with alot of folks at the white throne judgement. Moses put blood on his door post Pharoah repented Now the death angel who passed though Egypt at midnight passed over what house??? Its always been belief in the blood of Jesus, turning from sin or being sorry for sin or repenting from sin is an action a deed a work of the flesh, it will deceive you its of yourselves and you are accursed to teach another gospel. Its the blood preach free salvation and faith alone in jesus blood Once the holy spirit enters then and only then can God's spirit turn them from sin

I listened carefully to Steven Anderson and his Bible verses. I slso came up with your Jonah reference. I believe it is your strongest point. I was and am considering using the Proverbs verse. Mike does make very good points. I focus on 1 main verse, and then a second. John 1:10 and then Romans 10:13. It is my argument is that receiving Jesus is repenting of one's sin because of Hebrews 12:6 to 11. My salvation experience is very much in line with what Mike talks about. I read the Bible voraciously upon receiving Jesus. I knew what most Southerners know who read very little of the Bible, but have a loved one who talks about Jesus. I read about cutting off one's hands and realized sin was real serious business. I became violent about repenting. I think this would never have happened if I had not received Jesus first. Right before I received Jesus I thought I could not do it. I knew myself, but I wanted Jesus so much that I hoped against hope and cried to God to bring Jesus into my life. I only knew I was going to hell and only Jesus could save me. (Romans 10:13) I look at it this way if a woman receives a man as her husband, will she really be surprised that he expects complete obedience? If a man receives Jesus, will he really be surprised that Almighty God is Almighty God. If I understand you correctly, I basically agree with you and Mike. If you think one must repent of his sin before he receives Jesus(I believe these are one and the same.), I do not believe one can. Before I was saved I believed I had that power. When I seriously considered accepting Jesus I realized how weak I was. I knew I could not maintain this faith my whole life. I figured I could do it 6 months. If we could do it ourselves we would not need Jesus. The verses about the free gift always caught my attention. I have been meditating on salvation for 38 years. I know I am saved, but I want to help others come to Jesus. I would phrase what Mike says a little differently, but I think I agree with him at least 90 percent. Keep it simple. Romans 10:13 For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.

Thankyou for your work in looking up these verses. IMO Repenting of one's sin without Jesus ain't gonna work. Ephesians 4:12 For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ: 13 Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the statureof the fulness of Christ: 14 That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive; 15 But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ:

Biblical repentance is *having a change of mind*.. toward God, self and sin. When one hears the Gospel.. believes and turns toward Jesus Christ for Salvation and forgiveness of ALL sins... one has repented.

So turning from sin = filthy rags Preachers teaching repent from all your sins are basically saying, Lol Turn from the thing sending you to hell to filthy rags and offer your filthy rags to christ, then see if he justifies you and washes away your sin in your filthy rags. Compared to the blood of christ, you'd be a full to offer filthy rags Good stuff

It's only two ways we can go. Repent means to change ones mind. Change directions. So if our mind is going in the direction of sin and we change our mind and go in the direction of God what do you call that? Repent, Repentance.

WOW WOW WOW - I am so glad to see your teachings here - they some of the finest (not that I agree with everything you say, but if I don't, it's not important enough to give it an inch). If I lived out there, I'd make sure my family brought me to church there. My son just moved to Charlotte (TN), not too far from Lobelville. I've been sharing the videos with him. Praying he finds a church that teaches like this one - or that he drives out to Lobelville, probably about an hour's drive - gives them plenty of time to prepare to receive on the way there, and plenty of time to chew on the message and share on the way home. Shalom!

I don't think I 've heard anyone explain this any better than you have Michael. Thank you! I was raised in the Church of Christ and never really thought about their doctrine when I was growing up. I never really believed the claim that only those who go to a certain Church are saved. I always believed in the basics John 3:16. I didn't believe Baptism was necessary because Jesus told the thief on the cross who believed in him. "Assuredly, I say to you, today you will be with Me in Paradise." The thief believed but was not Baptized before he died. I think it is OK to be Baptised as an act of faith and respect for even Christ was Baptized just the same as we take the Lord's Supper as Jesus asked us to do in rememberance of him.

I was a worldly Christian - living with one foot in the world and one trying to live for Christ! Thank God he was merciful and didn’t drop me into a Christ-less Eternity! I believe once you’re saved - you’re always saved! OSAS - only makes sense logically. We are saved solely by Grace! Ie sola gratia! We as wretched vile sinners can do absolutely nothing to save ourselves - it is solely by The Gift of God! Since we know that Salvation is solely by Grace - and we can do nothing to earn it - let’s say we believe it’s possible to loose your Salvation. Since we have assumed it’s possible to loose your Salvation - what can we possibly do to earn it back? No possible work can earn it back - since Salvation is not works based!

I needed this. I have found that in wanting to be closer to God and asking for his help to stop sinning, he has helped me. Sanctification, I guess, can be a slow process overall…I have found this frustrating, but I have to trust that God knows what he’s doing and his timing is perfect, even if I can’t or don’t see it. What I do know is that right now, I am freed from sins that I never thought I’d be free from just a couple of years ago. I also know that I couldn’t do it alone. I NEED his help.

I love Mike Pearl, though I often disagree with him. But on this I 100% agree. The word in the NT from which "repent" is translated is "metanoia" (surprised he didn't mention that), and the word simply means to change one's mind. Remember, it is JESUS who saves, us, not we ourselves by "turning away from sin" by our own efforts! Yes, if we are born again we can no longer continue in willful sin, and we must grow in holiness, but that is the fruit of our salvation, not the root. Our righteousness is not earned by works, it is imputed TO us by the grace of God, and the work of our Lord Jesus Christ.
