Go from brilliant 12 string acoustic with a capo to a standard 440 tuned electric guitar in a split second. WITH NO REAL CAPO! Guitar technology is getting there faster than we think or imagine. This item is not new by any means but would have made gigs much easier and cost of strings cut into a 10th when gigging as a poor musician. Tell us how the acoustic sounds. I have not seen a Varix bass yet. However the guitar could have pitch changes on the string to do bass.

Short answer no. Magnetic pickups everyone has. There are literally 50 pickups in the Variax to try to accommodate which would be overwhelming.

variax is always nice sound but it is far away from professional ....i tried jtv 59 and it did not convince me to buy it...distortions too artificial and other sounds too thin or too undefined....it is a nice cover band tool or studio tool, but a real guitar is real guitar

Remember if you remove the Variax electronics, it still a real guitar underneath with magnetic pickups of your choice. Also this is used by professional musicians on tour such as Yes, Stryper and others.
